And it swings to over 40 watts on the external meter..

IM not sure I understand ? The meter works kinda ? (it was replaced as you said ) Now the digtal meter is wacking off on you ? So you guess your transmitting ? Hmmmmm ,but yet you say it swings 40 on external meter ? What external meter ? if the radio is swinging watts , I would certainly think you were transmitting. IM not trying to be a smart ass here , IM just trying to understand your question. Did you happen to ask for a radio check from anybody ? This stuff can last a long time before there's any problem with it , but then again , you can buy a brand new one and it will give you nothing but problems there after , it happens. I just don't see how it could be anybodies fault other then the radio getting faulty on you.

The analog S-meter is adjustable, and after you replace the S-meter, it needs to be calibrated. the adjustment for this is VR8 on the PCB.Thie will only affect Transmit. There are seperate adjustments for RX on AM and SSB. The digital S meter is not adjustable. Hope this helps !

The analog meter does not swing all the way across like it used to. Hell i live out in the hills and there are no radio checks!! LOL anyway thanks for the help...

if you decide that you would like to have it fixed, or any other upgrades to your unit, i am the west coast authorized service center for magnum international. but if it is just the meter, i would try re adjusting VR8 to fix it before you spend any money on it. hope this helps !!
