What is an acceptable SWR for a 2-pill, a TS350HDV with two 2879s? I'm right about 2:1 right now (radio only), and if I install the amp I need to know if I need to mess the the antenna (a 102). I would prefer to not mess with the antenna if not necessary.

Thanks, it was just a curiosity mainly. I have a 102 mounted directly to the base, with a 2:1 SWR and a barefoot Uniden 76. I couldn't remember where the SWR became a problem, seems 2:1 won't be a problem.

There was a table on here a long time ago showing the TX loss as SWR got further away from 1:1. Does anyone have that handy?

I have/had a Sirio to replace a Wilson 5000, the Sirio would fill with water and cause the SWR to change. I had the Sirio on less than a week, went back to the Wilson 5000. When it worked, the Sirio did seem to out edge the Wilson, but sadly only when dry.

The 1x2 Fatboy I had took less than 1/4 of a watt to get full output from the 2879s, and that was with my variable was turned all the way down. I think I was swinging less than 2 watts into it, and getting wild watts out of it. 5 watts would smoke it short order...

I have one, they work good for what they are...as long as you use an external antenna. Speaker is kinda hard to hear, but its a compromise for the portability. Mine is opened up to 120 channels...bought it that way from a member on here. I doubt you will get 5 to 10 miles, it dead keys 4...
