100 mhz scope question

I did the same, but inside my watt meter. I only ran a grounded U fairly close to the antenna wire. It picks up milliwatts to well over a KW

I had originally grounded the other end of the coil but it was picking up noise from the amplifier. Maybe from the blower motor being a 120 volt and connected to chassis ground.

I put a pickup in the remote line section of an ameritron awm35 watt meter. Also installed one in an rf limited low pass filter. One less jumper.

What kind of watt meter you have ?

Not as accurate as a bird when you're dealing with high reflect, they are well built and I dont have to change slugs.

If all you want to do is look at modulation it doesn't have to be complicated. The blue wire wrapped around the output of my amplifier is connected to a bnc connector on the back of the amp. That connects straight to the scope. Works from less than 1 watt to kilowatts. Also a good way to mount a bird line section to your amp and save a jumper.
