10M wide open

I turned on the 10 M rig earlier and didn't hear much of anything.

OTOH, 11 meters has been active. I made my first contact to Mexico earlier on channel 37 LSB, this individual said he was in Baja Mexico on interstate 5.

Also made contact with a guy in Oregon on channel 17 AM, and got my numbers called one other time on (I think) channel 28, but it was faded.

All of this done with a Wilson 5000 mag mount on my pickup truck.

Like I always say...10,000 hams will all sit listening for someone else to call CQ while 10,000 CB'ers will all talk at once on the same channel...:D

Ratso, you are right about the CQ thing.

Had a strange experiance in October of last year. The bands all seemed
dead and I was bored, so just decided to call CQ on a completely quiet
band, 15 meters. My second round of CQ brought me BD1BYV (China)
down near the bottom of the band. Never heard another signal after that
either.

Just goes to show, it does pay to take chances..(y)
