11 meter is very quiet?

Yes I am very happy with it. It has great ears and the build quality seems top notch. Great gateway drug in to SSB.
This is a company owned ride so I don't wan't to get to crazy with installing stuff. Its already got tons of other electronics stuff hacked in for my job, It burns I don't want to get the finger pointed at my stuff lol

My Jeep is another story though. I plan on putting a respectable setup in there. I have been lurking in your big truck thread. Thanks for documenting your battles with RFI. My JK jeep is an electrically noisy piece but I'll bet its nothing like what is going on in a modern big truck.

Thx

A friend of mine has a JK. I haven’t found a good install online on which to model such for his. (Haven’t searched as diligently as if it were mine).

Would appreciate your JK install in a thread.

As to big trucks:

You could do the job without it, but you wouldn’t want to once given adequate exposure to a good rig & operator. (Training is weeks of riding with an experienced hand).

The workday has seams.
Those can start to come apart.

CB is Rescue Tape.

If the seams don’t separate,
the workday retains its integrity.

Momentum isn’t movement alone, it’s in being able to absorb typical disturbances.

Untypical or atypical disturbances can be regular. And are deeply unwanted. The CB radio keeps those fabric panels together.

Call those seams & panels, sails.

I just happen to be on vacation this week, taking 3 more weeks in December. Gotta burn it up before the end of the year. Listening to the scanner (Uniden BC785D) while doing the dishes of all things. Usually I will hear the local trucks leaving town in the morning and there is a fleet of dump trucks hauling from a site south of town.

Then I heard a British accent, maybe Scottish or Irish don't really know. I just assumed there was a local guy with an accent. But then I listened to what he was saying, he wasn't speaking American. I couldn't hear who he was talking to. The words he was using, most people here would struggle with the choice of words, but he was definitely talking to someone who understood him. Once I realized this, I went over to the radio and flipped the big switch and called out to him, but he did not come back.

Maybe it was just two local guys that spoke the same way?

I was sitting here printing out beam headings preparing for next weekends CQ World Wide HF SSB Contest.
If Dr. gives me a good report on my surgery Tuesday...Virus crap or not I am headed to Ohio... To operate from the Contest station!(y)

CV-19 is The Big Lie. Zip to worry about. I’ve been on the road since before it began with only intermittent stops at home. And, the world of truck driving ain’t a sanitary one, so any other is practically sterile.

CDC buries that but 9000 have died of this. Average age of 78. Same as the average age of death anyway. Who last year died of the flu. And will again next year. (The info is out there, but not for the stupid 80% who rely on TV).

The mask BS is the biggest irritant. As it isn’t in the least effective. It’s naught but a sign of willing submissiveness. Moral cowardice. As it’s an unhealthy choice — in truth — law protects one from wearing it. No explanation necessary.

Corporations (and other) that try to force compliance haven’t law or evidence on their side. Ordnance, mandate aren’t law.

You’ll note that the “employees” and others who try to force the issues are the fat-ass cowards they appear as they scurry away you start after them. Get angry and get loud. (Draw a bead).

As to refusing service, I recommend you find the “manager” and remind them that’s the American flag outside. That they WILL take cash . . and that they WILL respect those who guarantee law & order in this country. Another name can (will) be on that business in the morning.
Or it’s empty space. Or cinders.

At work I’ve been turned away twice at receivers.
Haven’t worn a mask and never will.

All other “rules” are out the window now. Can’t smoke. Can’t this or that. F-U. Buh-bye assholes.

Corporations aren’t people. Have no rights. Don’t even have a basis in law. Enjoy the last days of national chains. Their ruin is just ahead.
Pushing all their counterfeit poker chips to the table center. (Gladdens me immensely).

If you’ve the impression I walk around angry or unhappy, no, it’s the contrary. I’m a more pleasant man than maybe I’ve ever been. As it takes managing the asswipes on the highway or in the grocery aisle by mentally staying ahead of them (no feat for an American), pleasantries are disarming.

And only American men possess moral agency (women and ALL minorities are incapable given current laws and politics), place your bets accordingly. (Those who transcend the virtual prison will make themselves obvious).

Most of all: Look forward to having fun with these assholes.

We sure as hell need as many men as can be found to operate Radio in its every guise.

Shake the dust from your shoes
Go forth.
