11 meter is very quiet?

Yes Sir, AxlMyk. Sounding good today for sure! Thanks for the qso, brother.

@Shadetree Mechanic - You were sounding choice on that x9. That radio has a great sound. Are you using the stock rci mic?
Hey 226, thanks for the contact. I had just gotten home from work and opened up the box that was on my porch. Hooked up the x9 and was going through my mic collection on a lower channel. The 198 that it comes with just doesn't have the punch. It is probably perfect in a noisy truck, and I like the looks of them. Just seems there is always a better choice for me. I ended up with an Astatic 636, which ends up as my choice on most of my radios that don't have the electret option. The x9 easily does between 100 and 150w on voice peaks.

Thanks for the audio report, honestly I wasn't really impressed with the side band audio on my 148 monitor radio. I was thinking that the bias sounded low, like crunchy. Maybe the distance between us makes it sound better? This is the situation I was having with the 86v with the RFX95, kind of the same sound. But I got it from Chris Holland, so it has to be correct, right? I just need to figure out what I am hearing, but I guess I am trying to compare to My President Madison with the DX500v. It sounds clear as a bell on my monitor. I will probably pop the covers just to see what the bias adjustments look like anyway.

Talk to you later this weekend, 73 and enjoy the DX!
Chris

Ps. Just talked to a local, he said I was sounding good too. I just need to figure out what I am hearing in my monitor radio.

I understand. I have radios/mic combos that, when I hear myself via monitor, I don't think it sounds very good at all. But then I heard myself on a video gate several months ago with the "subpar" setup and I was amazed how good it sounded. Go figure.... ?
73 Chris. Enjoy your weekend. I'll be listening.

Did I read a post that said the prediction for DX wasn't suppose to be very good this weekend?
The noise is going to be high with some blackouts but the solar flux is high so when it's good it'll be good.

Around Tuesday solar Flux will be around 220 with the noise being way down so it just keeps looking better mis amigos!

Here you go, I just watched it. Her predictions are a pretty good tool in our hobby.

Thanks I tried to bookmark it, hope it works. I guess this weekend I'll have to put my KL-203P in my car and ready my Stryker SR-10 antenna for a possible road trip next week. Be interesting to see what the McKinley will do with a little help. Almost a 500 mile road trip ought to reap me some contacts if I run 37 & 39 LSB. I know the Texas guys seem to like 37.
