11 meter is very quiet?

For a little simple filter it cleans up noise in CW mode extremely well.
It would allow you to dig signals out of the noise.

I kind of figured that was what you was getting at but I haven't even touched base on CW yet. I kind of want to perfect the 11 meter first before I move on in the hobby. I don't want to be a 1/2 Hinny mess in everything I touch. LOL

It's my first time owning a 2995 and I've got no complaints aside from the lack of an nr circuit. It's a powerful radio for sure, it has no problems getting out.

It's my first time seeing the one you have pictured, actually there aren't a whole lot of options out there so I went with the west mountain version to improve the receiver.

I got mine last week and it's a game changer no doubt! It turned my rci 69 base plus into the perfect radio. Or I should say, perfect for me.

Last few days have been dead here, Occasionally, DX will roll in, then disappear. Not many locals in this area, a couple old timers and that's about it, and there's another guy 20 miles north of here, about my age. A few guys up north of here in the big city of Paducah, that mostly hang out on 26.875. A few more old timers down in Paris, TN. Very few people on the air in my coverage area.
There's a CB shop not too far from here, but there are no skilled techs around that I know of, so if your gear needs serviced, you have to ship it off somewhere.
Once in awhile, the DX rolls pretty good on 17, but as soon as you start making good contacts, and get a ragchew going, every lowlife under the sun, comes on with their 20KW egos, and their big mouths, and ruin it for everyone.

I found one at HRO at a very good price. Just wondering if it is worth it???
That's where I bought mine. Should arrive tomorrow.

226 and many others say it's a night and day difference and should bring the receiver to that of the new anytone rigs.

Made one brief contact to Iowa from the mobile today and that was it. But did notice the McKinley did seem to be bothered by the colder morning temps. Had to tweak the clarifier just a tad until the car warmed up. Time tells all Tales !

I also run an RS DSP-40 for receive noise reduction. Great little unit. Here is the RAD SHACK Factory Service manual, and several mods that eliminate some of the shortcomings with the unit.

Hey thank you, that's good stuff. That info should be stored in the info section of the forum to be preserved. Maybe @AudioShockwav can somehow stash it there.
