11 meter is very quiet?

Yup. I was a nice long QSO with 23 BC Coyote Sean in British Columbia today. Got away from the crowd on 36 thru 40, and used the uppers. A whole different radio experience there. I heard Sean talking to another station, and when they signed off,I gave him a shout and we had our turn. Sean, you were loud and clear into S.A. and mother nature held the propagation steady enough that we enjoyed a nice long QSO. Thanks to all the other operators on the freq for standing by and letting us enjoy the contact. Good to finally hook up with you, Sean. We'll do it again soon, Mi Amigo. Have a good evening and 73 from the backwoods of Colombia to the Island in up in British Columbia

I talked to you a month or so ago, you were booming in here like you were in my driveway...lol. Nice to see that you're a member here!

The noise floor was a solid S9
All regular 40 channels are so noisy here you just hear the sound of an arc welder s9

I don't understand how people can function in this hobby with that kind of noise!
I had really noisy power lines along the road for a number of years..... I bought an MFJ-1026 which pretty much reduced the 9S units of noise to 1 S. That kept me on the air until I finally got the electric company out here to fix the lines.

I frequently talk to people who have a constant 5 or 6 or 7 S units of noise. All good, but they are on there calling and calling and calling and people are coming back to them but they CAN'T hear them, so they just keep on calling endlessly, tying up the channel.

If I can't get noise below S 1 I don't get on the radio at all...... any amount of noise drives me totally nuts as I'm trying for rare DX, much of which never gets over S2 or 3 anyways.

Luckily for me, I rarely get more than an S unit of noise, and often none at all.
The point is, when I do get noise, I do something about it rather than just complaining!

Conditions are fairly good right now on the East Coast. Just talked to 134 Scotland and I hear California so I am going to get it while it's hot. I was calling cqdx and had someone come back telling me that I have great audio. I am running the ammo can QT60 set to 4khz wide audio and my Texas Star Bilateral 400 doing about 200w peak. It's my turn to shine, so I am going to make the most of it...

Turned my radio on this morning and nothing but noise and had too much on the plate to leave it run. Turned it on about a half hour ago and DX was rolling but Starvin Marvin is hungry so have to cook. Hey when are we suppose to reach that Solar High of this cycle ?

I believe we will have peak conditions over the next two years. So I guess the peak of the peak is about a year away.

I have been led to believe that we are at the peak of the cycle right about now. Some think we might even be slightly past it....... but there seems to be a lot of disagreement amongst the experts!
Expert = Drip Under Extreme Pressure , maybe thats why they cant agree?

Conditions have really dropped off here the last few days. Nothing but static right now, and the last couple days there wasn't much heard before noon local time.
Still getting great conditions to Australia/New Zealand/Pacific Islands in the late afternoon and early evening though!
