I went out to the garage and powered up my beat up 139xlr to see if the antenna it's hooked up to could here any DX...Sadly no... On the bright side, I thought I'd straighten up a particular messy corner and uncovered my old Astro Plane!! It needs to be cleaned up, and this cool weather is just right to be outside

I drove back home from Miami today. The magnetic mount on the roof with my Cherokee AH100 SSB walkie-talkie picked up a ton of activity. My situation was the opposite of yours. I could hear lots of stations, but only one or two got back to me. I heard 363 in Western PA and a West Va. station come back to me, but that was it. Once home, I turned on the base and it was the same thing. Skip is hopping but my luck getting back to folks was minimal. 69 in Pensacola, FL and I chatted briefly, but that was about it.
