11 meter is very quiet?

Checking out my new 959 yesterday, had some skip on 38 trying to roll in, but just wouldn't. Heard 1414 Texas in the grass calling CQ. I replied and we were able to talk for a few minutes, and then he was gone. Not bad for an out of the box barefoot 959. Should have bought one a long time ago.

Radio friend sent me a text message last night...Skip on 38

Turned radio on 30 minutes later and mostly missed it .Was only able to barely confirm one contact with a guy in Dallas TX area. Logged his number in but don't remember it unless I go look.

And he is talking to a guy in Oklahoma as I listen right now.

At 8:00 pacific, the Ditch Bank SSB net is on 27.365.

What time of day did you hear Australia? I heard some AZ and CA coming into the east coast over the weekend, but nothing any farther away.

It was around 7:30 Pacific time and the band was open.

Was welcomed with a water leak from a plugged ac evaporator line soaking carpet so didn't get to make the shack until later. You gotta love surprises...

So if the band opened up, I might of missed it.

Not strong but made the contact.

As soon as it got dark here in NC, west coast stations from California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada coming in so far.

Add Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico to the list. Hard Drive 163 on 19 pushing my needle in the red.

Well right now, 9/17 on 27.185 at 8:37pm, the Sand Jawa is on, picking him up at an S9 with the RF Gain at 12 o’clock.

No amp, haha. What a liar.

Am stuck just north of Tampa. He’s not hitting me that strong, but I’m on backup antennas and parked between other trucks.

That said, I’ve heard him too many times not to be abje to calibrate.
