11 meter mod for icom 706mk2g

ahh as the world turns. cb soap opra. im a licensed ham n still use 11 meters. whats the big deal? a radio transmission always gets my attention n always will no matter the band 10 dash 4?

The 706 is an old radio and I have been told by a very well known ICOM tech that there are zero repair parts for the 706 line.

Same with my Kenwood TS-50, but it's been re-capped, aligned, and I'll use as long as it lets me.

Yeah my 706MKIIg sits on the shelf now, it still works fine but I don'tuse it anymore, one of the downsides of working from

And here I am, 14 years after this thread started. Last week I picked up two MKIIg. One of em is new in the box, the other one barely used. I'm about to do the 11 meter mod on one of them today. Tired of hearing how off frequency I'm transmitting on ssb on my Galaxy DX959 that I purchased only because of the ssb capabilities. New guy problems I guess, but I'm getting there. I'm brand new at all this, but I know already, I'll be a fan of 11 meter for life. I grew up hearing it and seeing it from my Dad. I'm testing in October for Tech and general and I'm sure looking forward to the huge learning curve to come. Now to crack open my new radio and melt some of that silvery stuff under the green thing.....wish me luck! Shellcracker 850

I did the Mod years ago specifically to talk SSB on 11m. Nothing but good reports. Talked to Australia the other day on 38LSB.
