ok quagi design has been around quite a while. But I have never seen one built for 11m. One can go to the internet and get exact layout of a quagi for 144 or 432 to the exact mm, but try find one for 11m... I will wait. Ok enough of that. Here is what we have done so far without any kind of fancy design or 50hrs of computer work before even putting the boom together.. A FS meter and SWR meter is what we used. The original layout was ran from a program by VE3SQB. Anyone can find that program punch in 28.200mhz. It will spit out a design. As Al said "It is used for 144mhz. It will be trial and error anywhere else. That is the spirit of homebrew antenna building"
The driver element is a "frostbite" feed like SE used on "their" patent. I ran an L6 for ages. Till it literally fell apart in the air after 15 yrs of use. Liked it a lot. But I do believe that age ole saying "So as you get past 5 or 6 elements, each element does not contribute any noticeable extra gain.". That is why I decided to try this quad/yagi design. Just to see if we gather any extra gain. I have already scrapped the original layout from the quagi program. Went to a typical boom layout of a yagi AFTER the driver element. Just like I would for a 7element or larger yagi. Left the driver and reflector as I would a quad. We are working with 55ft of boom.
The 1st few pic are of the antennas 1st gen. Also pics of the feed. The last couple are what it has morphed to. I didn't get the horizonal elements on before I ran out of daylight that day. Have enough boom and elements to be 9 total vert and horz. One more day on the roof should do it. ALL materials are used from other antennas. Only this new are 12ga feed wire and fiber glass rods.
Just need to see what results I get.
ANY input on design will be great.feed3.jpg277617233_1328168157685135_2007202656618689925_n.jpgfeeda.jpg279594675_556710759342103_5222481783776863975_n.jpg2nd gen1.jpg2nd gen.jpg
