2/70 antenna placement

my uhf/vhf is nmo put right at the back of the cab on my ranger,,,, i just took off the brake light lens to give me room and used a old speedo cable to route cable down into the cab,,,,i used a larsen antenna with a slight bend to make it stand straight up,,,, i dont have any problem getting into repeaters and have communicated well over 15 miles simplex,,,,,,

Most of the Oil and Gas guys run fender in the patch as well as most hams around here. The O&G guys are mostly simplex VHF.

Is it normal to lose interest after getting a ham license? I've been fairly active on 11 meters when it's open, but I only flipped thought 10 a few times. I heard a cq and thought it was kinda cool, but I kept on scanning. Just seems kinda weird that I can now, buy I really have no desire. Maybe it is just a grass is greener thing?

I always seemed to have flipped around with ham. Currently I'm doing (well trying) a lot of SOTA and driven to come up with the lightest efficient set up possible with the least amount of $$. Previous to that was a portable car camping station off of solar.
