I just put up a R4 antenna over the weekend and have been working a bit more of 20 meters.. It is a BLAST.

well Xcept for 14.313 dem boys are goofs idiots and a few other words...

Have worked a RO9 station UA6 station twice, got CN8SG A ES9 and a few other off the wall places..

Just picked a CushCraft R7 today for a song off Crackheads list..

People bought house and wanted it gone $40 already taken down:w00t:

Also want to give a BIG THNX to "Robb" for talking me into studying to be atleast a General.. Going to shoot to get my DXCC by year end, And that would not happen if I was just a Tech

Good contacts congrats.

Google search for Cushcraft R-7 will show some results on how to make that performer last you many years.

It is a well made vertical but there are some improvements that can be made to it.

I used one for a while, works great on lower frequencies.

Why Not? CW is the answer!!!
Even with your General it is going to be tough...
There are many of the 330+ counties that NEVER get on the phone bands....
I had 100+ ( more like 150 counties) as a Novice...
Back in them olden days a Novice had zero (NaDa) phone bands!...
CW only (no 20m either) and 75 watts max INPUT power...
Most of my contacts were made at 5 to 15 watts to the antenna...
Go for it young Jedi! :D
All the Best

Well it is something to shoot for....

May the Schwartz be with me ^^ ab v c^^

20 still doing good at grey line I presume... between 7:30 and 9:eek:o AZ time got 2 Estonia contacts and a Finland contact night before last,, Ukraine tonight but LOTS of static on the band hard to hear anything. Still enjoying it, my radio does not venture off 20 that much

20 meters is a good band....However if your not checking 15 meters, your missing out... Checking DX listen around 21.325 +/-....some guys from Euro even run as high as 21.410-430....
Great band mobile....100 wts works well...
I've worked the world on that band running 5 watts and even less...
All the Best

Check 15 meters in the early evening late afternoon hours. The JA's and other Asian countries like to work DX on 15 meters.

17 meters is also good for DX into EU, Asiatic Russia is on there when the conditions are good.

I agree 20 is fun, ive got over 5000 contacts on that band alone, but in the last few years ive found alot more fun on VHF DX, also my only JA contacts have been on 10 and 15.

10 15 and 40 are a blast!

I agree, 20 is great but I have been having as much fun on 40, 17, 15 too. I find my self on 40 most of the time here late.

It is all good now that I got my ocf up, I thought my imax was good when I used it but the wire made my hamming come alive.

I hope the Mosley ta33jr is as much an inprovement as the wire was.

Where you hanging out on 20? I will try and get you one early evening.

I dont even use my Imax for say anymore 10/11 been dead here except late afternoon for a short time...

I use my Wire for "ears" reduction of static noise that my R7 picks up.
Kind of interesting flipping between the 2 on a QSO.. As far as a "hang out freq" do not really have one up and down the band scanning for DX. Once in a while I will sit and call out but not to often. I do get on 14.300 for the Maritime Marine net in late afternoons until the DX rolls in. Can always try a freq at a set time or so 14.322 +/- the club call, it is pretty quiet there most times on my end dont wonder that far up
