27.735 center freq. to get 10 & 11m??

That does not work very well. A dipole is a balanced antenna and simply trimming one side only upsets that balance which can lead to CMC currents on the feedline and result in RFI. It is much better to trim both sides of the antenna. Not saying you cannot get the SWR down by doing that but you will never achieve a perfect SWR at center with such an unbalanced antenna and the efficiency will not be as good either.

I was still thinking of his 102 whip base antenna for some reason and giving him an easy solution for both bands with no tuner. Equal lengths are best but I wouldn't cut a whip if I was trying to use both bands. As for cmc hes feeding it with unbalanced feedline and should be using a choke anyway.

There may be no need to overcomplicate this if he will just build the antenna and see what happens. Tune it between the bands and give it a try.

My solution for a multi band balanced antenna is to use balanced feedline and proper tuner no one is interested in that though. He's got a general ticket and this would really open things up for him.

Agreed 100%. When I found myself without any HF antennas but a brand new shiny 64 foot free standing tower I installed a halyard and pulley system on it and hoisted up an 80m dipole fed with 450 ohm ladder line that ran down to the end of the house. At that point I had a 1:1 current balun attached to a Yaesu FC-40 automatic tuner and then coax cable inside the house to the shack. It worked great for all bands although it was a bit tricky getting a balance between 20m and 80m. I had to adjust feedline length a bit in order to get the tuner to tune both of those bands. It is probably the easiest yet most effective cheap antennas you can erect for all band use.
 
Ground rods are no good for RF grounds. Just run a length of wire out from the counterpoise terminal.
 
Unless there is some sort of physical constraint where you can not build your own antennas,,why buy one.
ROLL your own.

9:1 unun has its purposes, I am thinking beverage receive antennas.

multiband dipoles,,one piece of coax,,several bands,,no antenna coupler required.
Google LB Cebiks favorite back yard antennas.
lots of choices to look at..build,,and try.
building your own and making contacts on the air is GREAT.
Experiment see what works best for you and most of all, HAVE FUN
 
No tuner and the desire to work a very wide bandwidth: This looks like a job for a cage dipole. Anything else will probably give good results in the 27 MHz range or in the 28 MHz range. The cage dipole is a design that provides wide bandwidth on 80/75 Meters, so it would just follow that it might work for your application.
