27inch predator 10k

The 27" shaft antennas are designed for pickup bed rails and tool boxes. The antenna will tune best with a 12", 17" ot 22" shaft mounted towards the back of the vehicle. Kale

thanks kale,i was hoping youd respond, theres no info in the uk,only that the 10k is very desirable well made, and an outstanding performer,so thank god for internet.bet your proud of your work, awsum antenna.thanks for letting me know.1.5 aint bad and ive still a few ideas now thanks to the guys on this forum, keep up the good work, regards paul(y)

thanks for all the replys guys ill try again, think ill get another stinger(wilson or sirio)and have a play with some cutters.will not having the static bobble on top of another stinger effect performance?its a big bobble on the 10k stinger.thanks again

When trimming the stinger, take the thing off the antenna first, and cut from the bottom of the stinger...."Don't Cut off the Static Ball on Top", cut from the bottom...

Also, since you said you have a station wagon, I would suggest also to place the antenna to-wards the back of the roof, rather than the middle.

Check swr with a external swr meter, and if you get a higher reading on channel 40, you will know you need to trim the stinger.

If your Predator 10K was bought New, the stinger will need to be trimmed to tune. All the Predator Antenna's come with a stinger that needs to be trimmed for fine tuning. Just don't cut more than a inch at a time off...And be sure to keep re-checking the swr after each cut...Because it's real hard to stick those little pieces of stinger back on, once you clip them off!:headbang

Well...One things for sure...You should be able to walk all over the rest of the ducks over there with that 10K! Not allot of Predator 10K's on the other side of the pond!(y)

paul my 27" 10k would not tune flat on my escort but the 27" shaft tunes fine on oscars passat estate,
my 22" tuned ok on the escort,

try a k40 whip from slabbies if hes got any left, they look about the same as the 10k whip to me, sirio and wilson are too skinny and bendy for my liking,

i have a couple of original bullwhips, i used one since the early 80's into the 90's, great antenna, they used to be the best available here when actually driving but they wont handle much more than a rm500,
the 10k rides more vertical so it gives more stable signals when driving and it will handle any amp we are likely to use in the uk,

good luck with the 10k(y)

jjd, your a funny guy,
i hope paul is up for a keydown against me, the locals dont like the taste of whoopass or smoking icoms no more.

thanks bob, been to slabbys loads of times, just put it on the boot and swr 1.1 hurray, are ya willing to part with a bullwhip?id love another,id give the 10k+valor trimag+2 oscar fold over whip mobiles and a scarlet warrior.all for one,let me know,im in penistone.regards paul

paul that is an insane offer BUT one is scruffy one is ok, the stinger on one has been cut too short ( not guilty ) the other dont have its orange ball but its not too short, if i had two clean bullwhips i would be crazy to turn down your offer, that also tells me you understand why i wont get rid of the tidy one,
the scruffy one needs some tlc and maybe a better whip from one of the scruffy avanti 6ft hippo/moonrakers hiding somewhere in the garrage,

i had 3 bullwhips and sold one to a guy round the corner,
like you i have a soft spot for the antennas but dont expect it to outperform a 22" p10k when mounted on the car roof,
they are very close in performance, the 10k is more stable while the bullwhip is a bit broader banded,

i will ask around for ya, finding a minter would be harder than finding rocking horse shit,

ps, one of the oscars was mine to start with, i swapped it for a wilson5000 with chris.

a clean bullwhip coil would be ace,the sirio 4000 whip goes streight in.would ya get rig of the scruffy one?if coil is ok and black plastic ok ill buy a whip,im really desperate for one.ye the oscar was yours and the other is a different model, its a plain black coil and pulls up to tilt, whips a bit longer too.ive got an avanti stud in a draw somewhere, couldnt get hold of a moonraker or hippo anywhere, sold my hippo and the lad wont let me buy it back, got it nos from U/S £70.thanks bob:drool:

a nos 6ft hippo would be sweet, i love em but no good to me as they wont handle power, the avanti was my first mobile antenna when i passed driving test, i still have two, one is on avanti magmount, all are scruffy.
