2995dx amp switch install w/pics/questions

well,,i wanted to run a 4 watt radio into a smooth tube amp when i wanted to as an option..and it did exactly what i wanted..period!
i can be "incognito" in my n.hood with people that are close and not blow out there ears and hear them complain i have to much power,even when turned all the way down the lowest the radio will go is 100-110 watt on ssb.

ranger does this mod all the time and people pay 300 bucks for it and a fan switch so this thread may have not help many but it helped me do what i wanted to do.
not to mention saved me money and i learned something in the process

Sounds good I guess. Well i'm off to the local Chevy dealer to check out a new 625HP Z06 Corvette. I'm gonna see if they can install a "switch" that makes it run on 2 cylinders at 125HP. That way I get better gas mileage and the tires will last longer. :closedeyes:

hopefully it has the opinions/options you need labled on the speedometer,so you can go 20mph in the left lane, and think your doing 55 and not holding up the folks that actually no how to drive
than again some dumb azzes think you drive in the left lane and pass on the right in the usa..so when my small block chevy flies by you on your right side flippin you the finger its because your in the wrong lane putting on your makeup and doing your hair if ya got anyop:

Sorry, but you are just the kind of guy that ruins a good thread.Lot's of good info on this i would say.. Laugh all you want about me running a 2995 at 2 watts ,plenty of power there when i don't want to use the box ..

yep,been talking past few hrs on lsb with 3 watts swing lol..nice to not break in and over power the other locals 20 miles away, and when i asked them with the switch "on" they say they dont even no im there with the switch"off"

No this is the kind of thread that causes people to ruin their radio's or at least run them way out of spec. In the end though it's your radio, run it how ya want.

my radio is stock and never been touched..just added a switch.

When you buy one of the HIGH powered radio's you need to understand it is what it is and you want to run straight radio with no amp.

That depends on the amp

I have a 2995 and enjoy talking DX with it without anything else in line, just a good beam antenna ,with good conditions its a lot of fun.Sometimes its very satisfying to just get back to the basics of cb without running a lot of power.(Just have fun)

amen! been havin a blast and takin names lol..sometimes. i always run no more than 70 watts and the homemade quad does the rest..i just cut the driven wire yesterday and added vertical with the horizontal in the same wire and trying to get best swr,s i can before standing the tower back up as we speak..
