It's a little off-topic, but I've got 2 of the Chinese HTs and in the past I've had quite a few from the big 3. I like the Chinese ones quite a lot because of the value offered in particular. I have a Quansheng TG-UV2 and a Wouxun KG-UV2D. I like the Quansheng best, it just has a better heft and feel to it, the menu system is very easy to get used to, and it receives and transmits like a top-notch radio. It has no DTMF though, and there are a couple features that exist in the menu but do not work. This represents a slight lack of polish to me. Not an issue in an otherwise very nice sub-$100 radio though, IMO.
The Wouxun is more lightweight than the Quansheng, but transmits and receives equally well. The menu system is more polished, but tedious IMO. There are a couple features that are implemented in a way I don't care for. It does have DTMF capability built in though, which enhances it's usefulness.
I've been surprised by the improving quality of Chinese manufacturing personally, and they do seem to be able to provide a good value. Each of my specimens performs extremely well, even better than most of the "big three" HTs I've had, but in terms of software and feature layout they lack the same level of polish.
