2sc2078 vs 2sc1307

yeah i would love to be able to read DC current without breaking the line.
will have to start looking around for one of those flukes that you have.

This is the one that I have but it has been discontinued and replaced by the Fluke 376FC which has a wireless feature to send data which allows remote monitoring.

Not all Fluke clamp-on meters will read DC thru the clamp so be sure to check out the features. Oh....and they aren't real cheap either but you get what you pay for since it will also measure capacitance up to 1000uF and will measure AC line frequency which is handy when working on generators. Good used is a good option and Fluke sells factory reconditioned products as well but stock would of course be hit or miss.

I have one of these "Uni-T UT200 Current Digital Clamp Meter DC/AC" that does DC A very well for under $40. I searched ebay and cannot find. There are "A", "B", "C" models but they don't do DC A. I don't know where it disappeared to. Get one if you can.

EDIT: I guess they now call it a "UNI-T UT203". Lots of those on eBay.

That will work for general use for sure. The Fluke 376 I have with the iFlex current probe is suitable for industrial applications where accuracy, accountability, and ruggedness all count. Trust me I would not pay the $500 cost of a new one but I did get a deal at a ham radio flea market a couple years ago where there was a guy selling several of them after the dockyard service center he worked at replaced all their DMM's when they upgraded.

I wanted to replace the 2078 with a 2sc1307 in a cobra 25 ltd..
So if I replace the 2078 with a 2sc1307 and 8 also replace the driver with a 2sc1306 will this pair work ok in the radio ? They was a driver and final combo in another radio

So I really need to know if I can switch out the combo 2sc2078 and it's driver with this combo 2sc1306 and 2sc1307 in a cobra 25 ltd classic ??

The driver transistor in that radio needs a lot of gain. The 1306 might or might not deliver the same power into the final transistor. No need to change the driver. Just use the 1307 for the final. Should work fine.
