5/8 wave ground plane 11 meters

Hello All: Yeah thats Radio enthusiasts at its best. Is the red wire the input?
That coil looks like it came out of a commercial big boy transmitter.

The first Interceptor 10K 5/8 was a heavily modified Maco V5/8 antenna. It looked way different but worked great.

The red wire is the tap wire from the coax center conductor.
The coil I spun myself.
 
I am sure this is old but This works well to repair older antenna Take a bit of 12 ga. solid wire and wind a coil tightly upon it tapped 2 and 1/4 turns up from the bottom. At this tap connect the center of your coax The shield and the ground planes connect at the 2 and 1/4 dowm end and the and the 9 turns up connects to your vertical radiator. You need to have it at least 18 ft. to the feed point for the image to form but once you do you will see a 1.5 to 1 or lower swr. I have made maybe 20 or so of these.

Darkdude, it would likely be helpful to those who'd like to follow your process if you'd tell us the dimensions of the coil, height and diameter, or, if you wound it on a former what size, the spacing between wraps, and what material the former is. Great post.

Yeah I see I left out a few words . What I was using as a coil form was a piece broom stick. It varies a little but lets call it an inch (22mm) Starting at the bottom wind 2 1/4 turns close wound now you need a 1/2 inch gap between 2 and 3 for the tap to the coax center connector. Now continue up with 11 turns close wound which connects to your vertical element. I use super glue to hold it in place Now cut off your piece of broom stick and take a little sand paper or a file and make the end round again, you can make several of these before you even get any question from her. Oh and where the coil starts is the ground connection . If you are repairing an antenna insulate and reinstall in base. Overall length 21 ft. 6 in.. You can make or repair a 1/2 antenna except the coil will be 13 turns tapped at 3 and 1/2 turns for the coax center connection Use 4 ground plane elements 4 1/2 feet long with overall height of 18 ft 6 inches. How can I confuse you more? hope this helps.
