5/8th Antenna question

static charges will find a way to ground. either through the coax and radio or direct to ground.
if its ac noise then the radios nb will have to deal with it but if it's simple static electricity then grounding does seem to help bleed it off

if you got the 6kc am filter in that transmitter then you got about the best am audio on the planet. sweet deal. wanna double your money?
i wouldnt worry about loading up the henry into it as long as its only driven with about 25w. that antenna should handle at least 1kw pep. you could add a 10 turn coil to the radial mount around the fiberglass to ground to help bleed off static.
maybe you should try a new penetrater. what antenna do you have up right now? id sure love to hear that station on the air!:pop:

Ok on the transmitter I took a quick look.. Did not see right off a AM filter, but did notice it does have the optional speech proccesor, I am going to have fun digging into this thing to get going again.. be a fun learning experiance...

As far as antenna right now I am currently using a Imax 2000. President Lincoln w/chip switch and Kenwood MC-60 mic I have cranked up the Clipperton L a few times on those BIG AM channels when you get a answer back I think you know you are working

As far as loading up the Henry into that 5/8th that would be a BIG Negative, I would resurect my Sigma 4 to do that...

Right now I am looking for a good multi band HF vertical antenna.
I am just a poor boy in the middle of the sticker patch so it would have to be "used" and very "cost effective" (hate using the word CHEAP)My funds just cant shell out what they want for a new R8 right now.. Yes i do have a 40+ foot crank up tower but the diameter is WAY to small to put a rotor in it for a beam:cry:

So many projects so little time:headbang

well keep your eyes open on ebay and qth.com for the am filter.
adding radials to the imax will help keep the rfi monster away. i dont care how dinky your tower is i bet its fine for a 2 el quad or a horiz 3 el yagi with the imax up the middle

The tower is strong enough to hold a 4 element tri-bander or even a 6 element yagi.... The inner section between the bars is only like 3-4 inches apart no room to slide a rotor in there or believe me I would, Ill come across a deal on a tower from someones TV antenna that they dont use any more...

One day..........

sorry doc but thats another one. you cant poke your eye out you can only poke it in:love:;)

Hey 'Doc, didn't you know that grounding is the way of the future, and cures hemorrhoids to boot.

I would like someone to do a simple video demonstrating a way to stop static in your receiver, and really prove static is being eliminated in the process.

Just unplug the radio from the power source, no more static.
Course cant prove that it would eliminate the static, but you sure would not hear it any more.;)

Couldn't resist:D

Ah oh, exceptions to every rule! I've had a Cobra 148GTL talk to me even though it was off! Someone was right next to me at a signal light probably with an amplifier but I heard them clearly through the speaker and they were moving the meter up to about 1/2 scale when the rig was OFF:confused:

I get it wavrider, sometimes the devil makes me do things too.

The problem with your idea is, we would like a real solution that would allow us to continue to use our radio. It would also be nice to be able to check the solution, and see if it works like a light switch solving the problem right before our eyes and ears.

I saw a guy built a simple choke in a YouTube video to solve static. He built it and installed it on the back of his radio. It showed us the noise was reduced or eliminated, but that was not a ground solution as noted here.

I tried it unsuccessfully. I've also never found a ground solution make a difference that I could tell.

I have tried the ground thing also, from a 4:1 balun feeding a 160 meter full wave loop, ungrounded or grounded it had the same amount of static noise.
