where to buy a 55r4 antenna?

also i see chargercharger.com sells them..... or they copy's? how come some have 4 turns some have 5 ..6 etc..? whats the difference?

The ones Charger sells are just like the ones 55 sells...Charger bought the rights from 55 from what I understand to also market the antenna.

R4 has 4 turns
R6 also has 4 turns, but the coil has a wider flat stock...And both tune tall...

The others that have more turns tune shorter.

If you buy from Charger, the price includes the stinger...If you buy from 55 you have to supply your own stinger (usually a cut-down 102" whip)

okay thanks. i plan on running the 55 on the roof. lmr400 to a 5 pill to radio. so.....i guess the best antenna to get is the: R6

Antennas

keep in mind you need strong mount for these external coil antennas . and that flat coils have more wind-load than round coils .

guess you want an inferior antenna to a 102" ss whip. oh well, to each his own.

the 102" is NOT wide banded on my mobile, iv wanted a 55r4 for many years but never had the opportunity to buy one.

id buy the r4..not the 6 . stick with the round coil. besides ya said ya
always wanted one

Neither the R4 or the R6 has round tubing on the coils...Both are flat stock, it's just that the R6 uses a wider flat stock for the coil...Think it's suppose to make the antenna wider-banded...I've had both, and couldn't tell much if any difference...

wide-banded? my ten-k with just 20w, at swr 1.0 from 26.000 thru 28.500.
with an amp i only flap on 6 with a SWR of 1.2 with power.

whats the wide band on those 55r4s?

I think the Ripster is rounded. Looks kinda flimsey thou.

R4 and B5 are the same wrap/width but different length bottom shaft length.

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
