No! He's correct. My eyes weren't deceiving me. He's deceiving me. He's deceiving anyone who would believe that transistors rated at (100 Watts each?) Is going to show 600 watts when driving it correctly, on a correctly calibrated meter?. What a fucking dick head. I think all those bird meters are there for effect. People who don't know any better must be thinking, wow! This guy's are real Pro and knows what he's talking about. Look how many bird meters he has. all the pretty bird meters lined up in a row! He's definitely a pro. The only people that could possibly be fooled by that footage are those who have no clue about the rated output of certain transistors. I know less than anybody on this site. But I know that too 100 watt transistors aren't going to do 600 watts. And if so they won't do it for long. And will sound like shit while it is doing it. What a fucking joke! Oh and by the way, I just love when technicians Vape right on top of over my equipment. Why not Spritz those amplifiers while you're at it. Fucking genius!

I watched right up to the point where he says," I'm going to bypass the FUSE'S TO GET MORE POWER OUT..." I know he said that, I backed the video up several times just to be sure that is what I heard. I think I'm going to load all of my amps and express mail those to him..... Yeah, riigghht!
I just had to go back and turn on the Closed Captioning, That is what he said. I'm going to bypass the fuse's to get more power out. Unbelievable.
Fuse's, We don't need no stinking fuse's. If your car burns to the ground it must be because you had your blinkers on while transmitting!

Actually it is possible. Just not those two pills and not just 14.0 Volts DC. And most importantly not that amp, unless you are talking IPP watts.(An outlawed false advertising tool.)
Does BBI mean "Biggest Bullshi##er Idiot."?????

Here is a photo of the S.S. BBI getting out of town after his customers brand new Chevy Silverado burned to the ground when the amplifier he "Souped up" exploded and caught fire.

I'm surprised that first 10 second key didn't kill it. The 1x2 (all 2879s) I used in my daily driver was ran at 100 carrier, 400 avg and 500 pep into a 16 pill. With occasional use it lasted a year before the transistors were toast. After rebuilding it and putting a matched pair of 2879s from RF parts (marked 116) it would show 750 pep on 14 volts. I bypassed the driver so it would last.

The kw 2 pill was a 1x2 fatboy driven by a cobra 29. 900 watts deadkey, would swing back to 400 average and just a little over 900 pep. The trick was to start yelling into the mic before you key then unkey before you stop yelling. The current draw is actually less with modulation and youre more likely to blow it with a deadkey.

The first power supply was an old Aim brand power supply that was rated for 20 or 30 amps. I pulled unregulated voltage straight from the cap bank. It would float 24 volts and pull down to 19 or 20 volts. The later power supply that I still have is an astron 70 amp with a variable regulator circuit installed. It will dial up to around 24 volts. I never measured amprage but I should have.
I imagine that you have to use larger capacity filter caps in the PS if you don't want the voltage to sag so much as create too much ripple?

It would impress me more if he was getting 200 watts rms with 2nd and 3rd harmonics at least 40db down 70db down even better with not more than 6 watts rms input drive.

Amplifiers are like rifles only accurate and durable ones are interesting! Real-world results trump ballistic tables and super wamy magnum velocities and mythical uber barrels rifled in the laps of Swedish virgins! LOL

At the end of the day if you do not get the basics right nothing else matters!

Picking your hunting rifle or shotgun based just on how fast the round goes is kind of silly. Picking your amp and amp design based just on a Bird 43's results is just as silly.

People get all caught up in transistors and class C vs AB and forget all the litle things like good concentors solder or crimped to perfection, good grounds, eliminating common mode, making sure the radio is tuned to perfection with a mic that works well with the radio and your voice etc.....People focus waaaay too much on watts on a meter.

P.S. If anyone wants my thoughts on hunting my experinces are free! LOL

P.P.S. "Amazing" is a bit strong don't you think? I would normally save amazing for people being raised from the dead or complete remission from cancer after laying of hands or 700HP 500,000 mile engine that get's 30 MPG on pump fuel! LOL

I wonder how long it would hold up like that if I locked a chicken choker D104 and walked a away or better yet starting ready Othello and did not stop? LOL Bet not long before a resistor or a transistor popped!!!

Yes, it would be kind of neat in my mind, having a few "illicit style" amplifiers on a qrz profile page, after all it is "our" responsibility to ensure a clean operating station.
I think the knee-jerk reactions would be worth it alone!! :sneaky:

Something about knowing how to build and run a station (cleanly) that is not ready-to-go and easily purchased. The appliance operators certainly would have some opinions!
"Oh that's a CB amp" boohoo lol, anyway it's all good hammy ham or not; it is still radio.

This video is funny, and I don't know why. I guess I should grow up and take the test, couldn't hurt.
I wouldn't buy into the CB vs. Ham fighting though if I passed, it's like the Left vs. Right, going in circles!

Grow up ? No, not intentionally anyway.
Take the test ? Absolutely! Just in the short time I've been paying attention you have left an impression of not only technical competence but personal values. I think you would make an excellent amateur.
