75 amp power supply

Got my new 75 amp power supply works great on the 2970n2!!!
Hello Undertaker,
For my N2 I run the Pyramid 36 and according to the meter on it, it draws 21 -24 amps and that's at full power of 225 watts on SSB.
Everything works just fine with the PS. If I remember correctly it does around 250 on AM.

I have had excellent luck with the Pyramid brand, only one failure of one that was used for 8 yrs.
Your N2 should work ok on 35-36 amp supply if the radio is tuned good. I have heard several people in the last several years on DX say that they were running a 35 - 36 PS with their N2.

Here is some food for thought:
When I first got my N2, I hooked it up to my Pyramid 50 amp and keyed the mic on ssb - WOW!! The watt meter hit 300 and the radio shut down and the PS almost went dead. Damn, I thought I had killed my new radio...

Anyway to make the story short, the radio was still working ok, but I then sent it to DTB radio back to PA. I told Dave that I wanted a complete tune and bring full power down to 225 watts on SSB, also told him I wanted it to work on the PS 36.

Well when it came back here are the numbers:
SSB - 225 watts
Amp draw is 21-24

I have had "0" problems with this radio so far.
(I run the N2 at 14.1 volts - that's what Dave tuned it at).

To convert takes less than a min. And a solder iron
I'm not that skilled, I could try, find the info, parts, and try. But being a full time RV'er the PM3 100 amp will be a great backup power converter for my camper. The current one has miles on it, been replaced once before. Nobody, stocks it. Order and wait. There is info on Powermax site how to replace my exact unit with a Boondocker converter ( same PM converter, different name).

Contacted Powermax today. PM3 will run equipment with or w/o battery connected.

Currently have a 55 amp unit, PM3 100 amp will be upgrade should current 555 fail.....again!

Maybe I should get a couple of the HP's for backup for my backup to run radios should current PS fail.

How difficult is it to convert?
