Sure is. Oct.1st is opening of archery here. The "777" made me wonder.777 powder is used for muzzleloaders.
Black powder is Just not big in this neck of the woods, 300 win mags, and 7mm seem to be the weapon of choice here for moose. Got to knock em down quick, sometimes repeated shots, otherwise your going to work like a dog to get him out. Spent over 9 hours recovering a moose that wasn't a clean shot with a 30-06 went about 200 feet into the bush, and had to use a chainsaw to cut a path to him, then drag him out with an atv. 50 cal would do the trick though.
13 years ago I went to Maine on a hunting trip. One morning we were face to face with a big bull moose about 50 yards between us. He was about 6 ft. across. It was awsome ! but also a little scary as we were not used to being around moose ! :shock:
You don't want to piss a moose off.Several years ago my wife and I were on vacation in Cape Breton and as we topped a hill there were several cars and a couple RV's stopped.The first thing I thought was an accident.Nope.There was a BIG bull moose in the road.One idiot decided to grab his camera and chase after the moose into the woods to get a better shot. :shock: I said to the wife that we should leave NOW because if the moose decides he does not want to be followed it could get real ugly real quick.My uncle fired several rounds of 30.06 into the head of a big bull and after each shot it just shook it's head as it kept charging towards him.Big hard head and very small brain to hit.It fell almost at his feet.He mentioned something about having to stop on the way home to buy some new underwear afterwards. :shock:

My sister's ex went hunting with us 2 season ago and brought his 7MM. He is in the army so he wanted that guy. Well he brought it with him and all he was after was the meat. I was sitting in my stand at around 10:30am and heard them coming up. So i went with them. Got up to the deer and his heart and liver were on the tree right behind it. :shock: I have never seen a gun do that. And the tree was about 5 feet or so behind it. Didnt have to clean much out The deer was about 35 to 45 yards away and blew his whole side up. But my dad shoots a 30-06 and has knocked some deer down. 2 years ago he had a Nice 4X4 come about 50 yards away from him. He shot and the deer got knocked down and then ran behind a evergreen. About 2 minutes later the deer ran off. His leg was broken but that didnt stop him. We tracked him for about 3 hours and 5 miles later and never found him. He would bleed a lot in one spot and them drag himself about 10 yards get back up and run off. After that we could never find him. :? CDX197

It was suppose to be 25 bucks a gun when it came out but people refused to register, so they dropped the 25 dollar charge, and registered for free to a certain date. After that date you had to pay again...kind of an incentive to register.They grossly underestimated the amount of firearms out there in the first place. And the government spent over 1 billion dollars on this fiasco. Now to be legal, you must have a possesion and aquisition certificate (PAL) which costs 60 bucks and expires every 5 years. It is basically picture ID. To get this you must first pass The Canadian Firearms course, and The Hunters saftey course...140 bucks for that, and 4 nights and two weekend days in classes. Next each and every gun you have must be registered, and if you get stopped by a conservation officer, all this must be in order. This only applies to non restricted firearms.....Now you want to hunt......This is where your wallet really lets out the moths, Also need an outdoors card which has all your personal info on it as well as where you would affix any and all tags for hunting or fishing, renewable every 3 years. 6 bucks for the card. Now moose tag 35 bucks, deer tag 35 bucks, small game $18.50, and if you want to hunt turkey, 22 bucks black bear 35 bucks, fishing is 22.50. Now as far as hand guns and automatic weapons those are considered restricted weapons, and must also be registered, but you can not just take them with you. You must fill out a permit to transport the hand gun. If you are going to the range, the permit is issued for a certain route to the range and back home with some leway, but not much. Can't say opps forgot I had the hand gun and be 20 miles away. It is insane and mind boggling, alot of people just gave up and quit, sold everything, and thats probably the hidden agenda anyway. They don't want you with guns, but the ones who do....they know exactly what you have. Well the honest folks anyway.. The botton line here is a theif or crook, is not going to use a gun that is registered to commit a crime, he will obtain it illegally and use it. This registration does nothing to protect me or anyone else, even though they said it would.
