777 Hunter

Boy, they have you anyway you turn ! A friend of mine went to the Maryland coast and got a pellet pistol for his birthday and took it with him. He went for a walk and had the thing in his back pocket. When he came back there were a few police telling him to drop on his knees. He said he was confused at the sudden turn of events and it dawned on him about the pellet pistol in his pocket and pulled it out and told them it was a pellet pistol. Dumb move on his part ! They then pulled their guns. He dropped it then dropped himself and they rushed him like a mad dog ! Come to find out it is a felony to openly carry any type of hand gun in Maryland. He had to go back for court and a lawyer helped him get off but it sure was an eye-opener !

By the way, how hard is it for non-residents to come up there to hunt under those laws ?

Well first off, you must be a holder of a valid hunting licence issued to you by a compatent authority in the area you reside. You must purchase a non resident hunting licence. Best to contact the MNR ( Ministry of Natural Resources) for an issuer in the area you intend to hunt. You must also declare your non restricted firearms (hunting rifle or shotgun, no hand guns or automatic firearms) at the point of entry. You must pick up a firearms declaration form which is valid for 60 days at customs offices or the website. or toll free from Canadian firearms center 1-800-731-4000. There is a fee for the completion. Not sure exactly how much so best I don't guess. If you think this is too rediculous, just contact an outfitter, probably the easiest way. We get alot of American hunters up this way, so it's not all that difficult really, but it is somewhat more costly than a resident, bear is the big one here for American Hunters, and the cost of a bear tag for Non residents is 175.00 bucks. Deer is the same, Moose is 350.00 bucks.
