8950 to 6lb6 conversion

It's actually very easy. In most (CB) style amplifiers, as long as you have enough tuning range on the plate and load variable capacitors, and some sort of input tuning adjustment you can make, the tubes will work. Most "Sweep" tubes can be substituted out for another. Most of them are very simple designs.

Now, with that being said, the 8950 is just a 12 volt filament version of a 6LF6 really. So, seeing that you want to go to the 6LB6, depeding on how many tubes the amplfifier has, you can probably just wire the filaments in series. For example, if it's 4 tubes, take two 6LB6s' and run the filaments in series, and do the same with the remaining two. Worst case, you could also check and see if there's a tap on the transformer that has 6.3VAC, and use that, providing it can supply the current needed.
