The third world peasants will continue to fill our Nations cities and towns like a brown plague, engulfing and destroying our culture and heritage, bringing with them unimaginable gang violence.
We deserve exactly what we have allowed, and continue to allow. Our demise as a once free Republic will be due to our own apathy, weakness and tollerance. We deserve what they give us...

All of you make very good points, my reason for the way I feel the way I do is: I worked since the age of 16 now 48, 3 years ago I got hurt on the job (which was thier fault) they fired me to get rid of a problem. My injuries ensures that I'll never have gamefull employment again. Went to a Doctor to determine if I qualify for social security, during the exam the Doc found what she thought was a melinoma on my back and insisted that I get it removed. My family Doc sent me to a Surgeon, after I got there the nurse did her thing. After she left, another "lady" came in and pointed out that I didn't have insurance (the surgeon was aware of this via my own Doc.) and if I couldn't pay.......I should leave. I kept my cool but let her know that I was a volunteer EMT for over 10 years and at times, risked my life for people I didn't even know....for free. Now my life is on the line and I'm turned away....over money. Didn't seem fair to me......but that was my problem and fully realized how some people don't really care about others......just the almighty dollar. I apologize for the rant.....it just burns me up.

Pluto: That may very well be political, but I didn't post or link to that. You said that I post a lot of links to political issues and then I asked you to show me where I posted such things. You threw up something political, but it was not something that I brought up.

Sonwatcher: I know from my own experience that there are two prices for healthcare- a price for the insurance company and a price for the uninsured individual. When we would bill insurance, we would use what would amount to MSRP, the insurance would agree to pay only some of that (we ended up being paid between MSRP and wholesale price for the amount of that prescription). If we had billed the price we paid, the insurance would again only pay part and we would be in the hole. When an uninsured individual would come in we would charge them only slightly more than our per-pill cost of the bulk we bought, which (depending on the drug) would sometimes be less than their copay would have been if they had insurance.
Example (fictitious): Drug- Promethazine 25mg; 90 tablets; 30 day supply
MSRP: $0.08 per pill
Our Cost: $0.02 per pill
Insurance will pay $0.06 per pill
Without ins customer will pay $0.04 per pill
It isn't totally the medical field trying to take agvantage of insudrance companies. I we billed the ins for our COST, they would only pay some of that cost and the medical field would be in the hole. The insurance companies are not innocent here. They decide what and how much they will cover. They also take and take from some people without giving back. Lets say that you paid into ins for years without needing it, but then one day you do need it and they say "sorry, your plan doesn't cover that", you have paid them many times over for what it would cost to get you treatment, but too bad.

I can tell that for some of you I may still be unclear as to my proposal. I say do away with insurance and governmental interference (socialization, medicare, and the sort). In doing so, prices would come down to an affordable rate.

I had a unique perspective to see abuse on all sides, so I'll probably chime in again later.

The same principle applies to socialist insecurity--the name it should be called. It pays a pittance of what a private system would pay or a different way of handling SS. The socialists and liberals shudder at the thought of privatization of social security. Why? Simply put, it would de-politicize it! IOW, they couldn't it USE to buy VOTES! (Look what I am doing for you and if you don't vote for me, those mean old (read in whatever party happens to be your villain) ----------- will take your check away! The also cringe to think that they can't borrow money OUT of SS to pay for their pork barrel projects. Socialistic Insecurity has been robbed of BILLIONS by our wonderful politicians and we will never get it back.

BUT! If SS were privatized, funds paid by both the employee and employ-ER were placed in a private investment, instead of
800 bucks a month, the recipient would be receiving at least DOUBLE that amount if not more (probably more)! Let's say, like now, The SS Admin decreed that, OK you are having X amount of $$ deducted from your check and your employer matches it. Just like now, you can't touch it until age 65 or whatever age is set. You will now be required to place this money in "safe" investments such as municipal bonds and other avenues that will build your retirement. If you could take that money they are ripping you off for and put it in bonds, safe stocks and securities, you would be a WEALTHY man by the time you retire.

But NO! They would rather DIE than let go of that money they use to buy your vote! The politicians have their OWN system and look at what THEY get while giving you a pittance. (OH, look what I am doing for you) HORSE HOCKEY!! :x

Take another case. Railroad retirement. Railroad retirement was around BEFORE Socialistic Insecurity was brought on by Roosevelt, a socialist, but a clever one. Railroad retirees do not PAY into Social Security. They DO, however, pay a higher percentage into RR Retirement and so does the employer. They
retire at SIXTY with 30 years service. The average retiree's check is around $2800 per month. His WIFE, when she retires, will receive an ADDITIONAL check of half what he does so long as her social security check is not more than his RRT. She then can choose to take the Railroad Retirement Board annuity instead of what she might have made in HER work! :shock: She must choose between the two. So if she takes the annuity and has been married to the Railroad employee for at least 10 years, she still must wait until at least 62 to retire, but when she does, their income (give or take some) would be $4400 per month!!! But that means they both had to have worked all those years. Now, granted, Railroad work PAYS pretty welll, so the contributions would be higher into the system. The poor old SSI guy works all his life, waits til 67 to retire and may draw maybe $1200 (?). His wife gets whatever SHE would get under SS if SHE worked all her life, OR half what the worker gets and both must work until 67 for full benefits. Total family income if she didn't work? $1800!
It is the result of politicians robbing Social Security and then buying our votes as well as stealing from the system!

This is the reason, among others, that I generally don't buy into Socialism both in medical and other issues. Not to get into politics here, but it is why I general don't trust the party who recently won in midterms ; so many of them are leftists like Hillary Clinton. I don't LIKE all the things the OTHER party does, either, but people like her and Ted Kennedy scare the bejeepers out of me. I want those sorry clowns to stay OUT of my life and I do not want their cradle-to-grave care. I can take of me quite well, thank you, so Hillary, GO HOME! :x

I even told the man in Nashville if he would just send me what I'd paid in, I'd be fine with it. Of course he said he(they) couldn't do that. If a person in this state, can't read or write or is an alcoholic/drug addict.......they get it with no problem.

Pluto: Apology accepted. It isn't a huge deal, I just don't see myself as a big political talker. I'll sometimes give someone a "atta boy" if I like the direction they are going, but I try not to get caught up in all the party lines and such because often it just seems like plain ole arguing. However, on this particular topic I do have an opinion and point of view that I would like heard.

What about workman's comp? You said that it was your employer's fault that you were hurt, government disability isn't your only option. Where I work now a guy was recently hurt on the job. The laws are getting more specific now, so your lawyer should not have a hard time helping you. My co-worker had to go to the doctor and they diagnosed what percentage of permanent physical disability he had (11% for him). Now the company's insurance has 30 days (by law) to give him a written offer for compensation. Have you looked into this?

A different co-worker of mine can't read or write, but he works for a living instead of being a burden on the system. He can count and read numbers, so he can distribute the correct amount of product and he got his CDL because TDOT has to accomidate such things, so he can drive the product out too. It is sort of ironic I now work at a newspaper with a guy who can't read or write, huh?

I forgot to answer your question- "what type of merit should be rewarded... and who would decide?" Mabey my wording wasn't very good. I mean that a person should get what they earn, they should not be entitled to any more or any less than that. Each person can decide for theirself how much they want to put in, and they will reap what they sow. I prefer responsibility and accountability rather than (false) entitlement and abuse.

Thanks, and I understand about getting caught up in all the party lines. I was told by my Fathter many years ago, that the two things to pass on in debate is....politics and religon. Those were wise words, although I forget sometimes. Anyway, I have a workman's comp. case, and also a disability case going on at the same time by the same lawyer. The Doc. that did my surgery (found out he was a "company" doctor, after the fact) botched the job, on top of that....sent me back to work way to soon. Got re-injured and thus fired. My lawyer sent me to a state certified independent Doctor who gave me a 39% permanent disability on the work related injuries alone (I have other health problems as well). My Father could barely read and write, and supported our family (5 kids + wife) up untill he retired. On you answer to my question....I understand what you mean now and agree, especially on the the last part.......73's, Pluto.
