Alignment question

So no radio gets the speaker jack treatment? I saw some guys o you tube do it .

Think about this for a moment. Speaker jack is for sending audio out of the radio. To get audio in you'd want to hook an audio frequency generator to the mic connector. To get an RF signal in you'd want to hook an RF signal generator to the antenna jack.

You got a link to any of those videos? I'm asking because I'm curious as to what, exactly, they're trying to accomplish. From my admittedly limited understanding trying to align a radio by pushing a signal into the speaker jack is a bit like trying to eat a meal by shoving it in your... better stop here, children could be reading this.

I know that. I was not sure if you did. You would not believe some of the things that have been asked in the past. The only reason I could think of connect it that way would be to test the speaker.

Back in the 1940s, the standard alignment setup would feed the signal generator into the antenna input, with an AC voltmeter connected to the speaker leads.

Pretty sure this is the traditional setup you're referring to.

I remember some of the old Hallicrafter cb radios from the 60's and others from that
era all you needed was a VTVM and a signal generator to do an alignment.
Life was so much simpler then(y)
