Alinco Dx10

Received an email from REMtronix this morning. The head repair guy says they have tested the unit on CW and have noticed no problems. I believe this was only with a straight key into a dummy load. Sounds promising so far. I'm going to wait until I hear from Universal.

Looks like a good cheap all mode 10 meter rig......I agree M/F Haters gonna hate...they can not lose the CB/vs /Ham mentality.
10 is open and this is a great way to get on the band in the mobile at minimum cost.
They will not even give the radio a chance.

I have never had a problem with exports but why does it need the 40 channel selector, sorry that screams cheap.

Then plug in the cable from the radio to your PC and set it for VFO mode.
And what is wrong with cheap if it works?

I got no beef with you personally Chris, but if it is a homebrew tuna can rig, converted CB, Cheap Export radio or a $3000.00 HF rig what difference will it make in the Logbook, or just the fun of making a contact?
I do not understand.
I know I can be kinda anal about this but a radio is a radio right?

Jeff I agree with you, but for the cost of that rig I could setup a new ham with a ICOM 735 or various other models. I know these are old, have issues but they will for the most part run circles around this Alinco. I know that buying an old used rig is a crap shoot but there are good deals out there. Alinco is selling this rig one reason only, to tap into the export market.

As for making contacts, I agree with you completely a contact is a contact. I would never not talk to someone because they were using one of these.

You fail to realize the niche that these radios fill. You need to get out of your VFO filled shack and enjoy the hobby.

Who gives a shit who they are marketing this rig for? I just know that it's something right up my alley. I want something small, lightweight with decent power output, low current drain and has CW ability. I'm tired of all the half-assed home brew and commercial QRP offerings.

There hasn't been an equivalent offering worth a shit since the debut of the 2950 flavors. It's hard schlepping a 735 around. This type of radio is perfect for the Technician that wants to diddle in HF. I admit, I'm not thrilled with the echo and beep, but I'll just pretend it's not there.

If people can only afford one radio only, then maybe they should save up and buy a big radio with a twirly knob.

Marked for export to RUSSIA only? Hmmmm, Homing beacon for cruise missile?
Spy ware installed? Kidding.
Is it computer configurable?
If I was in the market for another mobile radio for that money I would buy the Ranger DX2950.
I could not possibly need another mobile radio. With my new to me IC-746 and a Maxon 440 MHz radio and three Ht's.
But if I really, really, wanted another radio the Ranger DX2970NT would be my choice.
