This is a weird one. With either the radio, radio and driver, radio and big amp, or radio driver and big amp, my bird meter in pep mode swings forward. But stations receiving me say its swinging backwards on their meter. I have never seen it happen this way before. Usually meters will go backwards because of to much carrier etc but can this be a symptom as well?

Put the Bird in average mode. If it swings back in average, you are overdriving the amp and have run out of headroom to reproduce strong positive peaks.

Heres another weird thing to me. One guy that was receiving me said when he turned his rf gain down then it had good forward swing on his end, huh? He was like 40mi away so we were not close at all.

(Only part joking)

It’s all of it right here. Run the checklist. Prepare.
Things start happening fast, maybe too fast, and could be any outcome.

Careful as you key up.

Is this only one guy giving you this report or everyone?
If you show forward on avg mode it should be good.
500 watt dead key out of 16 transistors should have plenty of headroom.

Two people so far said back swing. In avg my meter doesn't move unless i back the carrier down to like 300w, than it goes forward a little. The driver meter swings big in avg mode. I dont have an oscilloscope

Does the radio have a swing kit? If so it could be installed backwards.......chuckle
