Ca
good morning, i would like to inquire about getting my license. i live in Southern California Ventura County.
if there is anyone close by me if you could help me out on where i need to go and how much to pay to take my test. i'm very excited, and would be happy to be apart of the ham community.
i need help finding a local community that issues the test for a reasonable price. all i could find online was a place that charged $25.00 and it was 300 miles from me.:blushing:

could you post a link to that site please?

i have never heard of a legit on-line web site that charges for an amateur license.

also, try here:

There are several online study courses you can do for a small fee. The actual test shouldn't cost you more than about $12-$15. If you like books, Gordon West has a series of books for each license class that will get you going in no time. Remember, you're starting with the Technician's Class.

thanks everyone for the quick responses.

i no longer have access to that site that said it was $25.00

im in engineering courses at a jc college and i have noticed half of the questions on the test are part of what i learned in school dealing with electricity.
iv took a few tests online and passed with only 4 wrong.

ill look into the sheriffs department that was posted by one of you. thanks guys(y) looking forward to passing it for reals

edit: honestly i hate books but im learning to enjoy them slowly since the major iv pursued is mainly READING hihi
i could use a nice Technician's Class study guide to help me pass with flying colors.
