AMATEUR RADIO. THE UTOPIA MOST TICKET HOLDERS WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE?

Removing the clip doesn't bother nor surprise me. What does is that you'd think I go on a rant about my rights to free speech. You've removed a few of my early post and I don't recall making an issue about it then. Although I may have, not understanding how the fourm works. I've been a member for almost 4 years now, and understand the rights of moderators to remove partial or posts in totality. I understand the fact that you and other moderators have that right. And accept it. It's your world (site) I tremendously enjoy being part of it. I'm not upset in the least bit. If I were I'd admit to probably needing a new life. Or seriously considering changing the one I currently live. 73's

I made no such assumption nor claim but was commenting on the very statement that you yourself said about having the right to speak out. Don't read more into things than there is. In the four years you have been here you have seen many such threads either locked or deleted.

I always try to shy away from these, because emotion can be a crazy thing that takes over.
I started out in CB like 50+ years ago and enjoyed many hours/years there. I however became frustrated with the power wars and bickering between channels groups etc. I finally made my way to Amateur Radio (1979). I have life long friends in both respects...(though most the good operators I worked in CB days are long gone).
I have not even had a radio that works there in many years.
You can't have the numbers of operators in either segment without drawing in a few "Ding A Lings" (LIDS).
I have made many more friends since moving to Amateur Radio, and continue to make them.
Many have come from this very Forum. Fine operators come from all services.
I frequent many groups on many bands and have always found operators of good quality...
Sure the're LIDS everywhere, but you most generally you ignore them and the're EGO's get depleted quickly when not acknowledged and they simply go elsewhere.
I get a bigger kick out of ignoring them and watch the're EGO's go bananas when they think they are not getting everyone's dander up.
Most times they have not got the signal to get the job done! :)
So with that in mind I will not make Generalized statements that perpetuate any feud that still seem to exist after all these years.

Kind of like beating a hornets nest isn't it? It seemed like a good idea at the time but things can go downhill fast. :ROFLMAO:

Free speech does not guarantee a sympathetic audience, nor does it allow anyone to impinge upon their right to change channel, frequency, or turn it off.
Funny you should bring that up. Don't cry qsy is how I operate. When I'm operating.

That's very good advice. There's two things I never speak about on air or in person
And that's religion, and politics.
I'm going to add this touchie subject to my list. Thanks. 73's

I continue to be who I've always been as a CB operator since getting my Amateur license. I listen more than I talk, speak respectfully as if my mama were listening over my shoulder, and keep my hurt feelings to myself.
Probably the most hurtful thing I've experienced on either band was operating on 100 legal watts on 80m and politely asking for a QSK. Granted an opportunity to engage I was told I'd have to go full legal power to talk in their group. And the most enjoyable thing was QSO many miles away on less than 5 watts power.
I make or break my pleasure on the air by keeping it simple - respect.

amen im the same i hold it all in. i try not to get into these kind of threads. it never ends well.

That "respect" is a two way street, MANY people on 75 meters use a LOT of attenuation and/or close up the RF Gain due to QRN..
The QRN n 75 @ nite is not like the higher bands

Those guys are probably jerks and not worth talking to anyway. It is a 2 way street though. The reason some old codgers get bent out of shape about a barefoot operator is because of guys that know they are weak and insist on making long transmissions. Even with an ideal antenna it's good to have some horsepower on 75m when you need it. Shoot me a pm if you want to try 75m or any other band.

Thanks, 543_Dallas.
At this time I don't have anymore than 100 watts. And I realize it can be difficult to read a low transmission on that band. I've had some operators work patiently and generously to work me. I appreciate them for it, yet, it feels humiliating to be a mud duck. Being rudely reminded of it kinda stung. However, that is about the worst of my experiences on the Amateur bands, so I feel pretty good about things over all.
The white noise nearly drove me nuts before I figured out what to set/push and put a loop up instead of a dipole, so I know what you mean. Until I can operate with more juice I'll not key up unless they are booming into my receive.
On the other hand, 20 meters is friendlier to my weak station.

They run BIG AMPS to compensate for other short comings. They are total jerks.

Your asumpassum is that I'm trolling is totally incorrect. I'd venture to say just about every site member who's answered or read any of my postings knows that to be fact. 73's
I wasn't implying that you were trolling, it was a statement that radio operators were the original trolls.
