Amp install

Glad you got it going. Probably the same as my Shooting Star 225, has 2 MRF455's. I took it out and running a Pres. Jackson barefoot now. Yesterday 6-6:30 heard and talked to 599 Sao Paulo Brazil on about 20 watts, 27.575USB.

Thanks Grinder I think is was made by Palomar not quite sure it was stored for years an not used it's like new , the pre amp on it is better than my Gray 200 base amp . I am talking to Gate Keeper now an trying to get him to freshen up the Gray he did some mods on one on You Tube that were quite impressive !
 
I have a gray 600 I ran mobile also, it is a 1X4 SD1446's. I wasn't sure if it is AB biased so I pulled it out since I have been using SSB a lot. I'm going to pull the driver stage and run it as a straight 4 and add AB bias if it doesn't already have it.
 
Yeah soldering not my strong point anymore , I had a seizures a few years back an between the meds an the shaking hands it took me 20 minutes to get a mono speaker plug right !. lol I bought one of those alligator clip vices an we are working in our soldering skill again !(y)
 
I've never used one but you might want to try those micro torches. Might be easier than a soldering iron on some stuff.

Thanks tell your wife I will an Grinder you should see me weld ! Well.... That's another story finally started clipping the rods ! ! lol
 
Grinder I'm headed to the farm in a while to get a load of hay I'll be on 38 lsb I'm up higher there an I'll give you a shout if your around .it's one of the highest spots in the state . I just have to be careful I don't interfere with the Police/Fire repeater because that just happens to be there too ! Haaa !! Believe me it won't take them long to get there !

Go halfway down the rod with the stinger and use the stinger to rub the shielding off. Then flip the rod to use the other half. Everyone should do it this way. Better control.

Next time a fire up the buzz box I'll try that ! Thank ! We should probably be talking about this on some other forum . Haaa ! But a box is a box it draws amps .
