Amplified Microphone

All great choices so far. If you can find them and are willing to pay the price the Astatic 575 or RF Limited CR577 are great mics with tone control.

You should try it sometime.

Sidekick if you are planning on using sideband. The 1104c is still a better all around option
Was the 1104c designed with SSB specifically in mind? Or is it a mic that'll sound good on AM as well?
I have a chance to purchase one.
I'm very happy with my fet modified (by loosecannon) silver eagle. I use it mostly on SSB with my Uniden Madison (occasionally on AM).
I've heard so much about the 1104c throughout the years and what a great mic it is.
Does the tone control really work? I think about the Turner expander 500 and what a piece of junk that turned out to be.
The 1104c certainly is a good looking mic, but looks can be deceiving.

It is equally at home on AM or SSB, the tone control allows the mic to be tailored to the environment.

The expander 500 was junk. The tone control does actually work correctly.

Assuming the one I've a chance at owning is nice cosmetically, and in excellent working condition what would be it's cash value, give or take? Thanks PS. The one that's offered to me is very nice cosmetically.. I've only seen photos and I can't test before I purchase, but I'm getting a 100% money back guarantee. It has been cleaned internally.

Lets see.I own (26) Astatic D-104 desk microphones so I'd say maybe,an Astatic D-104 maybe. LOL They are & have always been my favorite desk microphones.I prefer a Turner M+2U or Turner +3 if using a hand microphone.Just my personal preferences & I have only been doing this stuff since 1965. {:>)
