And another one ....

This is the way to go, I believe, right now. More bang for your buck! Substitute a KLV-203 and you will get performance that will rival most exports with out the power hook up issues!

Yeah, it’s really hard to see where this thread subject radio is better than a Galaxy 979 + RM Italy KL-203 at $250.

Let’s add a W-M DSP Speaker ($225) to the Galaxy combo which would bring us to $475.

In a mobile, the $470 Connex won’t be close (at all) for RX distance in the clear. And won’t TX any appreciable distance farther.

The 979 has SSB too which should be standard in radios being made today. I don't think Connex even makes a sideboard radio do they?

Agreed. Don’t think so. Not at Bells CB listings, at least.

By the time BELLS has got you set, it’s $565 and 200W.

Galaxy 959 + KL-7505 = $375 (today’s price).
W-M DSP Speaker brings it to $600 and 265W.

Where:

1). Mobile
2). Primarily AM

The Connex simply has a better chance of cooking itself AND lacks Sideband AND has inferior reception (RX clarity). Smaller package is single attribute.

250W according to listing (after tweak & peak).

Let’s set our big trucks in the same parking lot and send Skeeter — with a high-power rig — out a few miles to report on our signal strength. Adjust our radios he’s getting both at same S-unit measure (where all else is about the same).

“Power” is sort of relative.

But the competition will be soon be over on how far we each of us can hear him as he drives farther away.

Lack of DSP ain’t relative. How far each party at either end can be heard is the real game. The diameter of the TX/RX radius circle, to put it one way.

Boy, these surprise unannounced radios just keep coming don't they. It's like the vaccine neurological condition has hit Ranger...... They're shoving out random rigs nobody wants, the tried and true workhorses are still unavailable.... Continuation to 2020, none if it makes any sense....

I have to have answers for some strange questions from customers...

So let's skip to the chase...

Can, some how, Some one; Please explain to me what "Full Channel" means...?

Seems like they built a bunch of MOSFET filled pa bottom covers and when they get bored they slap one on another radio and call it new.
The Connex 4800dxl was a SSB radio.

And there you have it, Jeff

If they won't make anything for us that's really "new", just give us a regular o'l dual final AM/SSB 4800DXL with the same 6 digit counter and NOT the blue eye scortching Led's.

That would definitely get more attention than all this other stuff they're throwing out. We don't need another 3300hp on steroids, we've already had those.

The one thing better about the radio this thread is about, they finally got away from those RT1's
