OPTIMA

Why the Optima?
Is it the 5khz steps?
The memories that stay and can be scrolled from without losing them?
The settings that remain in the radio no matter what...?
The fact it never gets hot?
The split facility?
12m band?

It is still the easiest radio to use despite the plethora of anyclowns hitting the shelves!
And the receive is nice and clear..no hiss..comfortable...
And the transmit audio seems to work for most too....
No Roger Beep, no TOT, No 40ch bands, No echo, Just a simple easy to use radio...No Shit.

110% agreed there Magnuman!! The optima is heck of a radio! When I popped the lid on mine I was very impressed and it continues to impress me daily as far as use goes. It's a solid well built radio that is just easy to use. Haven't seen the new mic's that yeticomm is adding, but I am sure they work well. I added the icom hm-36 mic and love it!! It's taken front row in the mobile and I have made a bunch of contacts with it. Get great audio reports on both AM and SSB. Rock solid radio, can't be beat for the same money IMO. Have a great one and god bless. Oh Yes, my vote goes to the Optima MK3, LOL.

I will vote "other". A superwackpacked General Lee is hard to beat.

The quality of the build of the inside of the radio. Rf shielding, no messy crap, it is rock solid on ssb, continuous channels from 24.500 to 29.995 , 1khz, 5khz, and 10khz steps, the added filter. It's an easy to use radio and gets the job done.

I think the Optima is the best in terms of overall ability for serious users (to be fair I haven't tested the latest version but if it's better than the previous version it's definitely a great radio), the Lincoln II offers more for the mixed user and it's finish feels the most refined out of the recent radios. It also had much better overall availability to the markets.

The Anytone AT-6666 isn't as good as the Optima or Lincoln II in finish or overall ability but I'm finding it one of the easiest radios to use and the layout is much more like a small 2 meter radio making it very user friendly in the mobile.

Maxlog M-8800 ver 8 was the biggest surprise, I find the radio is just a pleasure to operate and the receive quality is excellent. Always on frequency and great reports so far.

I can remember a year ago people complaining about not enough new radios and now we're getting a bunch. M8900 still to come and Magnum still has their releases in the works.
