Hello everyone,

I have decided to get back on the airwaves after 30 years.

I am in process of selecting gear to get started on the 11 meter band
and working on getting my Amateur operators lic.

I have been looking at Antennas and trying to decided which one:confused:.

I would like to hear what everyone likes or dislikes about the following
antennas (More real experience infor the better):

1) Signal Engineerings White Lightning/ White Lightning 4+

2) Joe Gunn 4 + 4 Star

3) Gizmotchy 3 Element with power booster

4) MaCos Shooting star

Thanks in advance for your information.

To start with

Welcome back to the Hobby
Welcome to the forum

regarding your choice of antenna
i would pick neither of them

Go with one of jays antennas
( a1antennas.com )

i use his Interceptor I-10K
everyone accuses me of being on a beam when skip is about
plus is omni directional

if you insist on a beam
his crusader beams will destroy those others

'B.N.T.',

The re-scaling as shown does optimize the forward gain as shown in the graphs. But it also lessens the 'selectivity'. Meaning that that very low 'back' signal area is realized by not making the beam pattern quite as 'sharp', or that it's 'wider'.

There are 'trade-offs', which is normal. Not a 'biggy', just something to keep in mind. That beam pattern ain't never going to be a 'spotlight' kind'a thing. It's typically a 'floodlight' sort of thingy. Also normal till you get to a totally unreasonable sized antenna.
