Antenna ground and noise on HF????? Calling all Elmers
What kind of power supply? Usually it is other devices in the house causing rfi. You have turned off every breaker in the house except the radio, and unplugged everything else on that circuit?
Power supply for the radio is not the issue. I can turn it off at will and run on the AGM battery.
I turned the service MAIN 200Amp breaker off...and the noise goes away. If I turn off circuit by circuit, I drop about 1 S unit in noise, but I don't see a 'specific' circuit that is causing the 'majority' of the noise.
What I need to do next is shut the mains off complete and go outside by the utility feed and see if its coming from the Utiilty power. I mean...if I pull the meter and I still have the noise...its only coming from someone else at that point. I'm over 300' from my nearest neighbor.
I put a good quality AC line filter inline that all my power supplies plug into which made a big difference for me. The line filter is grounded to the ground buss, as well. The one I put in is the Morgan Mfg M-475: http://www.surgestop.com/surge-products/m-475.html
If the source of the noise is in the building, you can set the radio up to run from a battery, and shut off one breaker at a time. Might serve to isolate the source, once you know which breaker powers it.
If you can shut the mains off and kill the noise consider yourself lucky, that means that its probably in your house and you can probably find it and fix it!
