antenna swr q

because you cut what 4 or 6 inches off. those 62 inch whips usually tune with minimal trimming on 11 meters.

what vehicle? are the hood, trunk and doors bonded?

the barrel connector no way moisture is going to get in.
yes i reset radio to key the amp @ 125w. (seems to be the best sweet spot).

why would the antenna not be Resonant?

i looked up Resonant...

In physics, resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate with larger amplitude at some frequencies than at others. These are known as the system's resonant frequencies. At these frequencies, even small periodic driving forces can produce large amplitude oscillations, because the system stores vibrational energy.

That's a good definition of MECHANICAL resonance, but it doesn't even come close with antennas. A RESONANT antenna is one in which inductive reactance (XL) and capacitive reactance (XC) are equal and therefore cancel each other out, leaving only resistance as the impedance vector. This depends on the specific frequency, because any combination of XL and XC will be resonant on ONE frequency. Uno. Ein. Une.

A well-designed antenna might be able to show a fairly low SWR over the 40 channels of CB, but if it's "flat" from 1 all the way through 40 with no curve, you have a significant amount of loss. SWR is independent of power level, unless something is very wrong with the antenna, feedline, or the signal being transmitted (meaning one that's full of harmonics and spurious signals that aren't on the intended transmitting frequency).
