Antron 99

if i stick it on a ten foot pole and set the swr's can i then take it and put it 70 or 80 feet up and will the swr's stay the same or change ? thank you

They will change slightly but not enough to effect the performance of the antenna.

Put it on a 10 foot pole, or any thing at least 1/4 wl long (9 feet) tune the antenna and usually the A9 does not need any tuning but it never hurts to check it for resonance.

Once you are satisfied with the resonant frequency then put it on the tower, make sure you use coax seal or some good black tape to seal the connection to the antenna, do not want any water intrusion there. check it for resonance. Then start making contacts.

Easy enough?

WR, there is a small hole in the very bottom of the A99/Imax that allows water to drain. If you seal them you don't want to cover up that drain. I use a product called "Stuf" (available on Ham sites) in the feed point itself. That helps prevent water from getting into the feed line and doesn't a mess at the feed point if you want to later disconnect it. Make sure your connection is tight.

when you clamp the antron to your mast run your ground and clamp your ground between the clamp and mast you can also buy a ground connector that goes from coax to antenna connector
