Ugly but  as :censored: ! I can't find one on the East coast ! Stay Healthy & Safe ! 73 & God Bless ! Leo

The a frame is our first go at Trailers, we picked the a-frame for ease of set up and not having to deal with wet canvas if raining on a standard pop up, and gives great rear viability when towing. The f150 I picked up in December has the 5.0 6 speed which is a smooth motor but the 3.55 gears just dont cut it for me, plan to install 4.10's as soon as I have the extra coin. My old 08 sierra 4.8 4 speed with 4.11 was decent at towing the a frame and only ran KYB gas a just shocks, firm ride but I like it. Poly bushings sound like a good Idea. Wife will not have a radio in the camper, Ran a radio in my sierra with a wilson 5000, but thinking of ideas to mount wilson on the aluminum f150. Thanks for all the info Slowmover enjoy the camping season.

Look forward to more of your pictures.

Slo , ! That's what I think of that Camper ! Is it different & Ugly ? Well I love it ! I might find one around here $omeday ! Also sure they are Big $'s ! Iv'e never seen how the inside is laded out ? Probably just simple & effective like most " Slide In's " . I'm curious now ! Have to " Google " inside pic's ! Thanks for the Memories on the only one I've ever seen ! They use to call the guy " Hillbilly " when he showed up w/ that on The Big $ Horse rides my wife use to go on up North from us . " Eating Lobster & Prime Rib w/ a Daiquiri Fountain on top on mountain for her Club ? Np's There ! Must say I miss it . I felt embarrassed towing a 20' Trailer behind my 34' Winnie to these People ! A lot had lowered " Pete's " that towed a 5th wheel Horse Trailer / w Living quarters . Stay Healthy & Safe ! 73 & God Bless ! Leo

Tin , here's what happened to me . Wife had a 79' F-150 6 cyl . Towed her horse & trailer to Up State NY in the Mountains , came home w/ about everything Fried ! I brought & 81' Cougar from a friend 40k miles , I changed the motor & reworked the Tranny , real sweet torque converter , headers , dual Flo Master Exhaust , plus more ! I spent some $ on this thing , being a Drag Racer I did it up ! 302 Mustangs ? I ate them out of the hole Bad & embarrassed most of them w/ a F-150 ! Burn the tires ? .....:LOL: Needless to say she used it a month , me not knowing she came home w/ a 89' F-250 GVW 8600 #'s w/ 4:10 gears & 351 Windsor ... NO Over Drive ! Not a Big Mileage Ride ! It got 6mpg if it was towing or just driving it ! After that I tried to keep my nose in what ever she decided to $ ! :ROFLMAO: Stay Healthy & Safe ! 73 & God Bless ! Leo

Right on 357, well my 2008 sierra came with 3.42 gears and when I installed some 33" duratrac's.. it became a turd...so installed some 4.11 gears and had the truck tuned to get rid of abs lights after gear change and it was a blast to drive. The stock 4l60e lasted till 365,000km and had trans done up to a 4l70e truck now sits with 408,xxxkm dont have the heart to get rid of it as they are getting harder to find in my area. like to install a 6L in it down the road, but that little 4.8 with 4.11's on the freeway would howl put a few newer 5.7 rams in there place, and nothing against dodge as I owned a regular cab short box ram (2000)..great truck but loved to eat ball joints and its fuel, now new to ford an I like it smoth and the wife likes it to so thats a bonus. As for the F150 I am going down instead of up removing rear blocks and adding ford performance drop shackles to level with front and adding a set of 22" dub ballers with 305/45/22 shoes with airbags in rear for towing, similar to truck below but with black rims and not as low. Thanks for sharing the memories.
Cheers!

TC, as for campers, we have a Blackrock 22 BHS. No kids so the bunk area is for storage of fishing / radio gear. Normally pull with a GMC Sierra 3500 Crewcab. Just waiting for our new one to get in (ordered Jan 2020). For light trip it's a truck tent that fits on the back of a topper. We have an air mattress that fits in the back of the box, fits around the wheel wells.

There’s a monster thread on RV.Net of AVION Truck Campers. (See also CAYO brand)

Pictured below is a Silver Streak Class C motorhome circa 1975-9. You’ll never see yourself passing the other way. Only a handful. 2-3 survive.

This brand a custom-build. 2-3 per week.

Chrysler Marine & Industrial 440-3 underhood.

Many have wanted diesel conversions the past twenty years, but it ain’t a great fit. MPG ain’t everything.

But, everyone loves the almost extinct sound of a big block working hard. MoPar BB was the 1960-70s road king.

3.0’ single & Flowmaster muffler plus resonator out back of some Doug Thorley 4-2-1’s.

Not loud. Just proud. Authoritative.

I passed on buying it twice. Pristine. No room to do the work a 40-year old needs. The interior is same as the trailers.

West Coast owner last I knew.

Field Day Headquarters.

Tow a genset with tower.

A fellow with screename Big Rabbit Man had that drivetrain in an FMC. He’d be the one I’d contact to try to get the cam re-grind Morgan Hill (CA) did with M&I assistance.

Tight quench your friend with those big jugs to fill & empty.

Am in Colorado today. 44-years ago crossed nearby 10,000-ft elevation La Veta Pass with that drivetrain in a larger longer, heavier Class A. Wreckers standing by to get the 460 Fords and 454 Chevys over the top.

Sing a song of Thermoquad at full bellow rounding one sputtering Moho after another.

We were accelerating again before the summit.

Atop the dash: matched tachometer, vacuum gauge and fuel-flow meter.

3-2 TorqFlite downshift on a grade ascent according to vacuum drop. Upshift on the vacuum rise. (The Gasser Moho Hole-shot).

Run it at 105F intake temp with cold air on vacuum drop only. Mucho magic in the Adjustable Part Throttle, then. (Mad Max pulls in the supercharger effect when those gigantic secondaries come on line).

Very nice setup Binrat, Some friends of our just bought something very similar to your trailer, they like it but have to small kids with them. Where do you get such an air mattress, as I will be using the softopper off my sierra on the f150 and would be perfect for one night sleep overs instead of hauling out trailer.
cheers!

I camp in a truck camper, and also in a canvas tent.
GJBLM2016.jpg

The truck is a 4x4 F350 with 415ci V10 gas and 5 speed manual trans. I have been over La Veta Pass as well as Pancha Pass, 11,318' Fremont Pass, and several others with it while toting this 2500+ lb camper. It gets 10 mpg with the camper on.
I took this pic on BLM land near Grand Junction, CO. We arrived here after dark, found a level spot and turned in for the night. This was taken the following morning.

Here's my tent. I bought it in 2006 for a Terlingua Ranch, TX camping trip. It's canvas and has a stovejack; I built a woodstove for it for the same trip.
Unfortunately, while I got some great pics of the mountains and other scenery in the area, the only pic I got of the tent was the inside. So this more recent pic will have to suffice.

TC,
Truckbedz is the name. Linky https://truckairbedz.com/full-size-long-beds
Rugged but watch the battery. I never charged it for 2 years and it took awhile to take the next charge.
