Anyone bought from 88radio?

I placed an order on Friday and my order is still showing as processing..

Looking at the address & contact details on the website, it would seem they're based in Hong Kong, however, my payment was made to something like "American Media" or similar.

Anyone ordered from here, does it normally take them days to ship, and where are they based, please?
Did you get your order after all? Just curious

Hello,

Logging into my account on the 88radio website showed my order as "processing" for 5 or 6 days.

I sent an eMail on the 5th or 6th day after placing my order asking when it will be sent, & I received a reply from "Orion?" or some similarly named company saying they'd require another $40 to send it to me.

I'd already paid for the product & shipping quoted, so it was false economy for me to pay an extra $40.

I sent a few reply eMails over the course of 2 or 3 days asking to cancel my order & refund, & on the last day I eventually got refunded.

I won't attempt to buy from here again.

Awe man, I'm sorry to hear that... well heck!
What website did you use to buy from them? That way we know what not to do.

I bought from here - http://www.88radio.com/

I'm in the UK, and was under the impression this company was situated in Hong Kong - but reading up further on this company, it would seem they also ship from America.

Their website contact info' says they're in China/HK.

My guess is that when checking out, the postage I was initially charged was based on them shipping from HK - but they then realised it was insufficient as stock was only held in the USA - who knows?

If I'd have paid the extra $40 demanded, my total shipping would've been around $85, and from the USA I would also get taxed for the import fees. Fees when importing from HK are reasonable, & shipping is normally cheap, too.

The costs were too excessive in total.

My gripe wasn't really the incorrect postage charged at checkout, it was more to do with contacting them & asking why my order hadn't been shipped in nearly a week - then to be told about incorrectly being charged for the shipping when it should've been done when noticed by 88radio in the first instance.

It seems like a poorly run company with not a lot of feedback anywhere, but my experience might just be a "one off" & mistakes do happen.

I definitely won't be bothering again, though.

@Dereka5 I saw an Italian distributor when I was looking for the KL amps, I imagine you'll have better shipping rate/import fees. https://shop.es-radiotel.it/en/22-linear-amplifiers

On a side note, it is rather ridiculous your country, an ally of the US, imposes harsh tariffs on goods coming from a "free trade" country like the US. UK would rather protect itself from US manufacturers/importers than the flood of cheap crap coming from China, meanwhile goods coming from the UK into the US get a very low 2% import fee in most cases. Pretty funny to me.

Edit: not sure if you are looking for amps, the Italian distributor linked above has lots other radio equipment as well.
