I have owned a Magnum S45HP for a couple of years and am very happy with it.

Kind of following the Magnum range now but don't hear much now of what is in the pipe line ...any clues as to what is being offered.

cheers

The plan was to expand the Raptor line just like the old "S" series. I think they move slow, faster then say low. There are also rumors they went under, but those rumors have been out before and were wrong. There are some threads from last year where several of us had called Sam on the phone and he gave the run down.

really??? ive owned 2. omgegaforce and deltaforce. i think there great on ssb
my only complaint is the useless 5 digit display. but i like the memory feature
being able to store frequency and mode. but my all time favorite is my ts 5010
and 2510. 2nd is my 2950 ,3rd is my magnums

I have had a few Magnum radios and IMHO they were junk for SSB use..

I only used SSb and I have talked to a gent in New Zealand (1700 miles) on LSB and also other Australian states with great clarity.

The 257, Delta Force, and Omega Force radio's are all processor controlled. On SSB they run at least head to head with an RCI 50/70, I actually prefer them on SSB. Sorry about your luck I guess.

Care to elaborate?

I know they're not ham radio quality, but FWIW I've made quite a few contacts on my 257.

the S9 differs little from a galaxy. probably from 1 radio to another, or even 1 person to the next, drift is no worse, & occasionally suggested to be less. receive-wise....same. transmit-wise, i'd give my thumbs up vs galaxy, but again it's all in the eye or ear of the beholder. as for the cpu controlled magnums....receive in a mobile sucks most of the time. as a base, you'd be hard pressed to find a better stock export, transmit- or receive-wise. if you're talking mosfet magnum....all bets are off. their transmit quality seems to be like winning the lottery. they COULD be really good radios. but, alas, to do so would eliminate any profits the lewis's may be or have been seeing.

i have a Magnum S-3200B base and get great reports on 11 & 10 meters on SSB and the RX on SSb is great. I've had it for about 6 years and the internal power supply just started giving me troubles, but I just use an external now. but when I called Magnum a few weeks back and asked about replacement bulbs for the mode lights they I called in a bomb threat they acted like they never heard of the radio. what gives with that ?

I think the US market has been exposed to some high power rigs such as the Magnum S3-350, S9-175 What happened to them, any good or are they now flung to the slag pile of radios with good ideas but poor execution.

I kind of like the idea of a radio with a built in amp .

Down under the radio inspectors seem to try and track down anything over the 12 watts range with high powered exports being an illegal rig.

Have to say I have had FANTASTIC results with Magnum radios on SSB. Delta Force, Omega Force. 257HP and the S-9 have had them all and loved them. Sure you do get a bad one from time to time but on average they are all great. I'm using a Omega Force right now for my base with no issues for months. Stable like a rock on frequency all the time

I was chatting to gent on LSB about 18 miles away with my 45HP and was getting great audio reports. I know that there are many here who have radios assisted by separate amps but I wonder how they go with the built in amp rigs as you don't tend to read about them bragging on this forum.

cheer and beers.
