You are getting 1300 watts peak out of a 1x4? Your wattmeter sure isn't mil spec. 800 watts peak is the best it gets with the LA series 4 pill amps.
I had a DOSY meter back then. LOL

Sorry I didn't see or find this post years ago...I have a TX-600 linear amp, and I need to get in touch with the guy who made it. It is NOT a Texas Star. It's a 1 x 4 and the transistors are marked "RF100" (driver) and "RF150" (output). I bought it new in 1989 when I lived In Southern Calif. The guy who built it, named Steve I think, lived in Riverside. CA. Supposedly the transistors were mil spec. All I know is that it's the most kickass linear I have ever owned. 590 dead-key - about 1300 PEP with a 5 watt drive. I will post a picture soon. I need to contact the builder because it fried two capacitors, and I can't read the values. Of course...no schematic. Help Please.

Sorry I didn't see or find this post years ago... But yes, I built the TX amps in Anaheim, had a shop in Fullerton after that. No schematics were ever drawn, they were in my head. I'm still running my TX amp... you?

and no I did not make the "Pirate" boxes... I did make a few 16 transistor amps for competition and DX hunters.. but they were unbranded. Have recently retired from working in Cellular and back to radio/amps etc in rural Idaho
Hey Steve, nice to meet you. I knew of you but never met you that I know of. Lee (Doc Audio) introduced me to a man in Anaheim who I ended up working for building these amps until he sold it off to a guy in Louisiana.
That was a long time ago, lol. I too live in Idaho, North Idaho to be a bit more specific. I realize this is an old thread but perhaps you'll run across my comment someday.
Prob. dead! That said forums like this are not a great place for someone looking to sell items. That said 4 years and 21 weeks is a bit long to stay gone. Normally if you are a professional you pop on a sight like this maybe 3-4 times a year. You avoid anything negative or controversial. This way at the very least you will not drive any business away.
