And hey, if my dog and I like it, that's all that matters. Believe I'll do chrome though. Don't want to get too flashy.

My first thought was why would a person buy a $150 mic for a $50 radio but I guess that would make me a hypocrite. I've had a $300 mic with other audio gear modulating the final and driver in a few different cheap CB sets. They all had poor RX as most cb radios do so I used an SDR receiver with a T/R switch or tapped into the first IF of the radio. The radios looked like they were on life support but the performance was there.

On second thought, a nice D104 off Ebay for 1/3 the price of the M2 and having loose cannon to do the fet mod Sonar suggests sounds like the way to go. Oh, and a better radio. And antenna.

Does anyone know if the manufacturer is a good one? Haven't heard of them and kinda worried they're located in some guy's basement in Brooklyn.

Have chatted about this couple years back with Bob at Dayton....they have quit selling separate elements thru dealers....He said no $$ there by the time you retail package and distribute, the market was already gone.
Hence the Handi-Mic with the Genesis 6 SSB element for like $80. USD or the separate element for $50+(last cost of the Heil HC-5 element $54.95)...what's the better deal!
You can try your luck with Heil directly thru repair services, but unless you find one at a Hamfest like I did(NIB)....no dealer has them.
