Hmmmm.. So long as you didn't actually change any of the parameters in the service menu you should be OK. Pretty sure the way those change is by keying the mic briefly while the parameter is displayed, when in the service menu.
So, as long as you didn't key up while in the service menu you should be fine.

I strongly suspect the speaker is the problem because you said an external speaker works fine, it's only the internal one which is low in volume. Please correct me if I got that wrong !
The internal and external speakers are selected by a switch inside the ext speaker plug so they share the same circuits. If one is working, the other should also work, unless of course it is blown/defective.

I hooked pin 4 back up it got a little louder, I think the speaker is junk. Compared to my topgun tech quad 5 maybe got spoiled. It’s manageable now. My 148 etc is still louder than it.

Not sure why people mess with the service menu at all in these radios ! It's just asking for trouble. Some folks have bricked perfectly good radios 'cause they just couldn't resist the urge to mess with the service menu......

The Anytone radios work excellent right out of the box........hook it up, use it, and be happy, no need to mess with what doesn't need to be messed with !

Highly unlikely to be anything in the service menu. More likely you're using a non-stock mic and it's overdriving the audio. Or the mic gain is simply set to high.

Plug an external speaker in and see how it sounds. Haven’t run a stock radio speaker in 20years.

It was low out of the box. I turned it on and did service menu item list just cause I saw a suggesting on here to do it. I had it on external speaker on my base setup though and it was loud. It’s very quiet until I get 3/4 and above on knob. I’ll hook the wire back up in radio and see if that maybe helps good idea. I didn’t have issues with 636L hooked up but sometimes auto squelch turns on with my topgun quad5 so I just said heck with it and clipped wire while I had it open. Sorry for run on sentence on my phone lol

If you don't own or have access to a signal generator, DO NOT mess with the service menu in this radio !! I can't emphasize this enough. There are menu items in the service menu that once changed CANNOT be set back without an SG. The output from the SG is how those items are set and they cannot be done any other way.
We have already had people on this forum who bricked their brand new radios this way.
Anytone radios work perfectly right out of the box and there is no need whatsoever to go into the service menu. You have been warned !
And hopefully you haven't already gone into the service menu and changed things.

Before starting you must have the radio hooked to a dummy load or antenna. Also get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP even if you don't plan on changing anything. Scroll through each menu item and view the data and WRITE IT DOWN!!! Make a spread sheet of the menu item and parameters.

Service menu is accessed by starting with the radio in the off state, press and hold function key and continue to hold while powering on the radio, continue to hold the function key then press the other keys on the top row one at a time and in order then release function key.

Menu items are scrolled with the channel selector. You can view the data of selected menu item by keying the mic. You change data by keying the mic and using the channel selector. Once things are set how you want power cycle the radio.

FM high power is menu 8

FM low power is menu 9

FM modulation is menu 11

AM high power is menu 15

AM low power is menu 16

AM low power modulation is menu 18

AM high power modulation is menu 19

SSB high power limiter is menu 21

SSB low power limiter is menu 22

SSB low power is menu 25

SSB high power is menu 26

Those are the main ones that most ppl can set themselves.

On the AM modulation adjustments smaller values equals more modulation(Less AMC clamping).

Like I said before WRITE EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER DOWN, ALL 53 OF THEM!!!

Don't break you radios! I'm not liable! These are alignment settings, resting the radio will have no effect on these!

Can you share your settings from your service menu?

I would not copy any of my settings, it's specific to the radio. The only thing I played around with was modulation and power settings. Ended up not being worth the hassle and put the radio back to all factory settings.
