Anyone got any good recommendations on an amp for this radio to install in truck. Wanting to sling some power but don't want an amp too big that's a pain to find a place to install

that's going to be problematic since the radio will need to be de=tuned to run most amps in the 100-400w range. Above that it's a whole new power distribution system for your vehicle. Just run it like it is. You'll be happier in the long run.

I'm completely new to this hobby and I appreciate your input. I think the best thing I need at this point is a mentor who knows all about this stuff

You was correct I would be happy. Just made contact from Tennessee to Kansas on 38 lsb. I have to say this is pretty cool
**edit** made contact with 1079 in Minneapolis Minnesota. Thanks for all the help guys. This is going to be an addicting hobby

The quad 6 is a nice radio. I have one in my truck. But they don't like to be modified. I have a Sirio P5000 mag mount and it works well. I did add a Turner +3B hand mic and get compliments on how well it sounds. Enjoy your new radio!

I have the same set up here in the PNW and I've worked most of the country on it. I'm a massive fan of Sirio antennas and probably wouldn't buy any different manufacturer at this point due to their reliability and ease of use.
