ARRL DX contest

I only had a little time to work anyone this afternoon, but did make a few QSO's on 10 Meters:

EA7JZ
ED7W
CE1TT
HG1S

Using just an IC-7000 and an 80 Meter OCF at 20 ft. All 59+ signals.

I worked HG1S as well a few more like:
P4OL
OK7K
SN5X
HB9CXZ
DK4WA
HA3UN
And about 200 others mostly on 15 meters but I was on 10 as well. 15 was solid signals from 21.270 to 21.400. Using an inverted fan dipole at 30 feet with a Yaesu 101ZD MKIII at 100 watts.

I try and avoid operating on major contest weekends. If I want to be bullied for a frequency that I already occupied or QRM'ed endlessly by folks with no regard whatsoever for decent operating procedures because after all,it's really all about them and their almighty quest to prove themselves better than the next guy, I'll just tune in to the government TV channel or go down to the local school yard. ^^ ab v c^^

The bands were crowded with a lot of signals. I only had time to get on during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Stuck to 10, 15 and 20 and made a little over 300 QSO's with about half on 10.

Kind of figured that it was worth focusing on 10 and 15 since we are on the down hill side of the cycle.

Running 100 watts into a vertical so it was scratching and clawing to be heard.

Best one that "got away" was hearing Lichenstein on 10 but the pileup was crazy so ended up moving on.

For fun I checked the WARC bands a few times and logged the Falklands on Saturday on 12m.

CK during some contests I will hang out on the WARC bands to avoid "contesters" but I haven't worked from the shack in a long time and it was fun to make some contacts.

I check the DX cluster for a new one and that's about it. My work schedule has me on an eight day rotation so sometimes I work weekends and have four days off during the week. Either way even if I am off during the weekends I have two more days off as well. I work two days, two nights, and then have four days off. This gives me plenty of non-contest times to operate if I want. I know that not all contesters are as rude as I may have indicated above however there are just enough of them to make it unenjoyable when trying to casually chat.
