Oh, it’s buried in here somewhere. It’s all about changing the 270k resistor.
I tried clipping the resistor first, and got great reports. Some here said that could cause the transistor to overheat, so I swapped in a 1.5M resistor. Some go whole-hog and put a tiny trimmer in.
I also changed out the switch, since the stock one goes scratchy in a matter of days.
I probably have less than $40 in the mic all said and done. They pop up for 29.99 on eBay all the time.
i just sold the one i had that was new in box never had a plug put on it for 125 dollars to a cber in zephrhills he was very happy to get it,,,, i just never had a itching to use it,, i had got it in a trade years ago,, and it sat on shelf,,,i use astaic mikes every once and a while as i have some but use turner/telex rk56 and rk70 and +3 +3b and supersidekick on my bases,, it seems i sound better on those,,,,
Actually - not bad. I've seen several on Ebay go for $170-$250 in the past 2 months. Of course, things get heated up during a bidding war...
You can always sell it and maybe even get more than you paid for it. Dudes go ape over this mic. I've sold a few of these and made big money.
Noticed on the BELLS CB site today one can have his ASTATIC D104-M6 inexpensively modded to sound like a 575.

I'd buy one of these before I would an old 575. These are potent mics. There are several condenser elements that drop right in and sound very good. They are heavy and feel good in the hand. The stock elements are good, too.
